Innova 3340 Professional Automotive Digital Multimeter, Black

Has a lot of functions and it has helped me diagnose voltage and continuity along with other tasks. The unit comes in a protective case and is overall very nice. It's working flawlessly and is priced very well, particularly when compared to a Fluke. Highly recommended.

I have other Innova devices. They work great. This multimeter is no exception. It comes with a lot of functions that higher end multimeters don't come with unless you spend a lot for it. It even comes with an amp clamp that plugs in to the meter, making it kind of a two-in-one tool. I have other multimeters and I have an amp clamp, but I think this one has become my favorite.

I read the reviews on this and decided it was good enough for my needs. I was specifically looking for something to use around the house and for automotive diagnosis within reason. Since this has a 10 Mega Ohm impedance it fit the bill at a reasonable cost (this allows for testing automotive computer systems without damaging them). As a note I am a retired auto tech that taught automotive electronics and driveability for over 20 years. I saw notes about the thermacouple and the units ability to read temp, it works well enough for my needs, even the much more expensive Flukes have issues reading temp depending on the situation. If I need greater accuracy in that department I would start by buying a different thermacouple, I do not believe the meter is the issue. The reason I gave it a 4 out of 5 is the leads. They really could have supplied better leads. For under $14 I purchased the KAIWEETS 51 inches Soft Silicone Electrician Test Leads Kit, it is very complete and has everything I need for this meter. I would recommend this meter for the home mechanic, I would stick with Fluke for professionals that need a meter on a daily basis.

Nerd Alert: I'm an electrical engineer and spend a lot of time in my test lab. I never heard of this brand, but thought I'd give it a go. I was drawn in by the attachment for spark pickup. I haven't used it exhaustively yet, just tried it and it worked on a motorcycle fine. I'll post back after more experience with it. Regarding the meter functions, it's pretty crazy how many functions this little meter has. I doubt I'll need all of them, but nice to know they are there if a difficult problem occurs on a repair. The temp gauge is nice, but I find for repairs a non-contact IR is much more effective. But, it's better than nothing. So, 5 stars for the multitude of functions. Dwell is really great for points ignition on old motorcycles and cars. I was checking calibration on equipment in my lab this week, so I checked this meter for the heck of it. I'm using a Fluke 5100B, and I was pretty surprised at the accuracy. Volts, Amps, Frequency, Duty Cycle, all spot on. Really, like <0.5% error, and usually just a few digits off on the last significant shown. Even high frequency AC volts was right on (up to 400Vac 20kHz). Your results may vary, since manufacturing tolerances and final factory calibrations can vary. But, very pleasantly surprised. So, for me, super functionality, super high accuracy, super price. Five Stars.

Does not function as good as a Fluke but does the job. Kept as a backup. The functions are there but it lacks the fidelity I am used to with a Fluke. Leads are cheaper and can tell will not last like my old Bluepoint I intended to replace it with. Good for all things it’s listed for but have not tried advance dwell or pulse width yet. Probably good for occasional use.

Pretty good unit, serves my needs, lots of good features for auto DIY , watch any UTube video on it and you can see how versatile it is. Dropped one star for me because there is no back light feature and a magnetic grip on the back would be good but that just my personal take on it. I work on furnaces from time to time and this unit is very handy for that but a magnet on the back would be invaluable. As it is it can be awkward to find a good holding place for it. Apart from that I would highly recommend this unit.
