Perfect Machine for Beginners and Experts Alike
I have been in the market for my own sewing machine for a few months. My mother has been sewing all of my life, so I caught on to the craft at an early age and enjoyed tinkering on her machine to make little projects. As an adult, I have been making trips to her house to use her machine when needed. I recently decided that I'd like to be able to make and mend at my leisure with my own machine, so I started researching and comparing the top brands on Amazon. I didn't want to spend more than $175 on a sewing machine that I wouldn't be using everyday, but I also didn't want a low-quality machine that would only sew one layer of material at a time. My initial needs for the machine were Halloween curtains, Halloween costumes and leather seat covers for my car. Obviously, I needed a machine that would allow me to sew through leather so I started looking for "Heavy Duty" sewing machines. My first search led me to a Singer, which is what my mother has and what I'm used to. I literally had that machine in my Amazon cart and was about to check out when this Janome caught my eye in the recommended section. After reading the reviews and comparing the two machines, I knew this was the one and I bought it on the spot. I am so glad that I did. This machine performs all the basic functions of any standard sewing machine and it does them extremely well. The speed with which it sews is phenomenal; I finished a quick set of curtains in under ten minutes and was pleasantly surprised with the results. The Exclusive Bonus Bundle is also fantastic. The other machine I was considering hardly included any extras, but this one has a full pack of extra bobbins, two packs of replacement needles, replacement presser feet, and a METAL (not plastic) 4-step buttonhole foot as well as a detailed and helpful instruction manual. It has the ability to sew 12 different stitches (I have only experimented with a few, but they have all worked beautifully) and I have not had issues with my thread breaking even once (a far cry from my previous sewing machine experiences). I find myself looking around the apartment for things to mend or re-purpose so that I can keep using my machine! When I'm finished with a project, my extras and tools go inside the slide out compartment on the machine, the dust cover goes on top, and the machine and power cord go into the closet. I don't have to leave it out because it's too heavy to move, and it's always a breeze to set up; just plug it in and go! All in all, I couldn't be more pleased with this purchase. Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned seamstress, this machine offers a top quality performance to help you create beautiful projects with ease. I recommend the Janome 2212 Sewing Machine one hundred percent.

Well worth the price
This little machine has a prettier stitch than my $5000 Bernina. It only weighs 12 lbs and fits under the seat of an airplane, making it much easier to take to classes. It comes with 13 bobbins, lots of needles, zipper foot and other stuff which I haven't checked out yet. It's very user friendly, and the instruction manual has great pictures. I also ordered the walking foot, which arrived today, and look forward to quilting on it. Delivery was great and I got it in less than 24 hours.

Convenient choice for beginners
As a beginner sewer, this is the perfect choice. Might take a bit of youtube session. But one you get the hang of it, it's smooth sailing. I haven't use it for complicated project yet, but having so much fun so far.

My Home Ec Teacher Cousin Owns 3 Janome
I had never heard of this brand, but a quilter friend recommended this model. I later found out my Home Ec Teacher Cousin owns 3 Janomes. I liked the simpleness of the machine. I liked it had a manual that came with the machine, so I did not have to go online to print out a manual. I like the numbers on the threading guide. My only problem was the feeder plate was not raised. I fooled around after reading a You Tube article and got it to raise. New machines sometimes have this problem. That is the only problem I had, but it prevented me from sewing right away. I would buy this machine again.

The Janome 2212 -I love this Tank. (like tough)
I have been sewing for my whole life. This is my 5th machine, and I currently own 3. This is my first Janome. Mostly I sew military gear, basic items like curtains, hems, patches, name-tapes, pillow cases, tablecloths, with a few hard core items like sunshades, outdoor curtains, and back packs. I bought this sewing machine to handle the tougher jobs that my expensive and delicate Viking cant deal with (experience =repair shop). The Janome 2212 can power though mostly everything and not get tangled up underneath. When she does get snarled I can plow through by using the hand wheel and keep on sewing. This is an awesome sewing machine!!!!!!!!! Very basic. Very easy. Very strong. I Recommended this machine for beginners that don't want to by a Rolls Royce as they make sure they want to sew and/or while they learn. I also recommend this machine if you want to do basic stiches on thick materials or multi-layers. It does fine on delicate work - but I wanted it for the harder thicker materials and jobs. If you want a machine that can sew through almost anything- and don't need a bunch of fancy stitching- here it is. Highly recommend.

Love this machine!
I just got this machine today, and already I LOVE it! After weeks of dealing with sewing machine problems (getting my old Elna serviced, only to find the foot pedal couldn't be replaced, buying a refurbished Singer, which felt cheap and didn't work, borrowing two other machines other machines that I couldn't get to work, I was beginning to think I'd better give up sewing (and that's my job these days). But somebody told me the low-end Janomes are great, so I decided to give it a try. The mailman delivered it today, and I opened it right there on the front porch ,and began working on the table out there. I figured being outdoors would improve my mood if it turned out I couldn't make this machine work, either. But this machine felt great, was so easy to set up, it hums along quietly, and everything about it just makes sense. Probably because it's a lot like my old Elna, which I bought used thirty years ago for about the same price as this Janome! So now I am in business, and my family is so glad that the sewing machine-induced fog has lifted!

Two machines with two different mechanical issues out of the box
I ordered a Janome 2212 and after winding my first bobbin, the machine would not re-engage for regular sewing, despite disengaging the level and following all of the troubleshooting steps. I returned this machine, and had a replacement sent hoping it was just a fluke. i got the second janome 2212 set up and on this one the bobbin thread would not pick up. After trouble shooting for an hour- watching videos and researching janome, I realized the issue is a hook timing one and would require repair. Really Disappointed! Returning this one and am going to try out a Brother CS7000x. **for those who think the bonus bundle did not come with machine**- i thought so too initially but its tucked in the bottom part of the machine that you pull out to access bobbin!

Excellent Machine, for beginners and experienced sewers like myself.
I have had a sewing machine since my days in Home Economics Class in the 1960's. Recently my very expensive machine finally gave out on me after many years. At 70 plus yrs I did not want to spend many hundreds of dollars for a new machine. My repairman suggested I try a Janome. I had never heard of this brand but decided to give it a try. I could not be happier. It may not do all the fancy stitches I am accustomed to having, but it has not stopped me from being creative. This is an awesome machine. I would suggest this to anyone looking to purchase one.
