Yes, for long hair, you might need 2 jars. Don't forget to lighten first. I purchased 3 jars of different colors and so far they've lasted a good amount of time. I'm actually purchasing another color soon.

When it say clean hair, do I need to shampoo the day before or the day I dye my hair?

I was always told to wash hair the day before as most shampoos strip all your natural oils off your scalp. I guess if you wait overnight your hair is still clean and hopefully a lil oil on scalp to protect from irritation. I don't know lol but I been doing it that way for years now.

Does the dye transfer to your hands after it’s fully dry?

After coloring, washing and drying no it does not transfer to the skin. Some colors will transfer to cloth before the first few washes. So make sure you are sleeping on a pillow you dont care about.
