I was able to cut it to size, and apply to both sides of the hole. Seemed to seal it well. It's viable after making the repair, but not worse than having a hole.So far it has held well. Slept a night in the hammock, and after sleeping, the patch was in place, and seemed to be fixing the problem.For just a few buck, this repair kit works just fine. I got a rip in my brand-new hammock. I was really frustrated and was sure that a patch would only prolong the certain death of my camping-comfort. Instead, this patch has lasted me four months. When I am not camping, my hammock is set up on my porch where my children and their friends use it constantly. The tear has not grown and you cannot see any evidence of wearing on the patch. I would totally recommend this to anyone that has a hammock. You should buy it before you go out, because it is only a matter of time before you get a little tear.
