Fear the Walking Dead: Season 1 [Blu-ray]

When this series first started on TV I watched the first two episodes and stopped. To me it seemed like 1) a weak knock-off of TWD; and 2) a soap opera disguised as SF. TWD is spectacular on all levels, incredibly intense. I dislike SF series that have little SF in favor of human family or political squabbles. However, recently noticed that there were 5 seasons available on blu ray. So I thought I'd buy it as a back-up when I got through my blu ray TWD issues. Viewed projected in simulated 3D on a large wall screen (120") with full surround sound turned up high, FTWD is excellent. In its own way, it's as well made as TWD. Plus, the SF (zombie virus, etc.) is at a slow burn that ERUPTS regularly. Also, there were several points in season 1 I felt I knew the predictable, somewhat boring path it would next take only to be totally surprised by a beautifully executed plot twist. it's not quite as brutal as TWD, but it has that same sense of total reality and lurking terror. I'm totally hooked, looking forward to getting into season 2! The background music, characterization, plot twists, awesome background "sets" (particularly of the city), and tension are top-notch. Yes, it was MUCH better than I expected! Bravo!

I knew about a spin off prequel. But never had interest in checking it out (couldn't afford basic cable, to be honest) I decided after watching the walking dead on Netflix to give the prequel a try. Will be ordering season 4&5 next soon. The prequel has been just as good as the original. It has good story telling. It still does not say what started the outbreak. But it's all very rapid, where folks are on the go trying to survive the dead and each other. What I like about the prequel is that your main core group does not stay in one place for long. Constantly moving, running, hiding from folks dead and alive. I like this one character who has changed from this whimpering person. Into a strong leader. It's changed everything and everyone for the better or the worse. Worth the watch and purchase.

I'm writing this review for season 1 because I figure that is where most people will start like I did. I have since ordered season 2 & 3 (binged them all) and can't wait for season 4 coming out March 5th. It is actually very different from The Walking Dead, there is much more happening and it is far more interesting. Kim Dickens character Maddie is stronger and more badass than anyone on The Walking Dead, so glad I gave this a try!

It's real and gritty. I tried not to compare it to The Walking Dead because you are automatically going to be disappointed, nothing compare to TWD or sexy, sexy Rick Grimes. It's the beginning and it shows true human nature, denial, weakness, strength and that life does not wait until you can handle change, it just happens and the true you is revealed in your group think and individual nature. I'm looking forward to the next installment.

Surprisingly good, was skeptical about spin offs, and I will admit some characters you want them to get eaten really soon, but it seems good, a good example of human nature when facing demise and survival.

I believe 1st spin off of Walking Dead - I really loved this show and wanted to check out a few of the sequels. I have seen seasons 1-4 I like the show - so if you're into zombies - you will love Fear the Walking Dead. Check it out Mann

Fear the Walking Dead - Die komplette erste Staffel STEELBOOK La storia è così così, dai primi episodi non sembra tanto coinvolgente. Infatti anche avendola vista tutta posso dire che non è alla pari di The Walking Dead, ne come storia, personaggi e lo stile che ha. Però se vi piacciono le serie con zombie e splatter o così ve la consiglio di vedere. La Steelbook fuori proprio bella con dei bei paesaggi raffigurati sopra, anche l’interno è fatto molto bene con una magnifica immagine per estesa di tutti i personaggi principali di questa serie. Anche la qualità si vede si sente al tatto che è proprio di ottima fattura, non come alcune edizioni che a volte la parte in ferro si staccano dalla custodia. Anche se questa è la versione Tedesca bisogna averla assolutamente, perché se uno le colleziona non si deve mai fermare alle sole versioni del proprio paese, ma a tutte quelle del mondo. Fear the Walking Dead est une série d'une exceptionnelle qualité par ses acteurs et son écriture. C'est bien plus qu'un simple "prequel" de TWD même si elle y apporte un éclairage spécifique. Elle est très originale dans son projet de présentation de la révélation progressive de la catastrophe et du passage du normal à l'anormal et des changements moraux dans la société et chez les individus. On s'attache particulièrement aux personnages et on attend la suite.

Als Prequel zu The Walking Dead finde ich Fear the Walking dead wirklich gut gemacht. Irgendwann fragt man sich sowieso, wie lange man sich die ganzen Staffeln noch ansehen kann, ohne dass einem langweilig wird oder der letzte winzige Sinn dahinschwindet. Nach einem Sinn sollte man bei solchen Filmen nicht suchen - den gibt es selten. Man will bei so etwas unterhalten werden - es soll einen so richtig schön weggruseln und ekeln beim Anblick. Das ist bei mir definitiv der Fall und hat auch dazu geführt, dass ich mir über Amazon Video die Staffel 2 angeschaut habe. Ohne jetzt auf den Inhalt einzugehen: Das Ganze spielt Wochen bzw. Monate VOR der Geschichte um Rick Grimes - es gibt also noch eine Menge an Stoff, den man in die nächsten Staffeln einbauen könnte. Ich bin gespannt, wie es weiter geht mit der Familie um Maddie - und wie lange sie noch zu den Lebenden gehören werden.

Love this show!!. Have heard people say it's not as good as the walking dead. Well guess what..IT'S NOT SUPPOSED TO BE!!!. I love the walking dead so gave this a go and I love this one too. It's set 3 months before rick (the walking dead) comes out of his coma so you get to see how it all starts and hopefully will at some point explain how it happened. Great cast though still not bonded with any characters yet unlike having my favourites in TWD. Just started watching season 2 now I've caught up and it's getting better and better....if your planning on watching this and continuing like I have then you really REALLY need to see fear the walking dead flight 462 before you watch episode 3 of the second season. It's 16, 1 minute long Web episodes and it was amazing!! Hoping the show gets more gripping like the mini episodes were!!.... All in all a fantastic show that to me is definitely a must watch!!!
