This set is great. Its easy to start using and thr pieces are a nice set. While much bigger than my previous set and therefore probably not as mobile (like taking it to class). I really like this set. It can be taken to class without an issue just note that it is bigger than some sets. It works great in building molecules and single bonds are easily rotated. I have weak hands and while I stuggled at times with the oxygen (red) atoms connecting and the double bonding. I was still able to get it together and it became easier. I WOULD RECOMMEND this set for chemistry organic chemistry and even studying for MCAT. I think this set would even work great for instructors since the pieces are decent size and can be seen fairly well from a distance. My 4 year old even likes playing with pieces lol. Although he thinks its just a building toy. But that just goes to show how easy it is to assemble and disassemble since a 4 year old can do it. I am considering buying the bigger set for him so he can play with that one and I can keep this one since it is sufficient for what I am using it for.

Great kit, affordable.
I needed to purchase a molecular building kit for my organic chemistry class, but the one offered in the campus bookstore was $81, so I decided to check Amazon first. I found this kit and purchased it. It's a really good kit and more than covers the needs I have for my class. Pieces are easy to assemble and disassemble and a tool is included to help remove parts. It comes in a hard plastic case that stays closed, which is excellent for me since it's bouncing around in my book bag all day. All of the parts are bagged separately in the box and it has compartments for everything to stay organized. The seller sent an email providing instructions for use after I purchased and another email asking if I had any problems with my purchase, which I thought was very nice of them to do. All in all, it's a good kit, much more affordable than others out there, and is really good for my needs in Organic Chemistry I. It's also a god set for anyone just looking to build molecular models. I started playing around with it the day I got it.

Very Good Organic Chemistry Model Set
I purchased this model set after taking organic chemistry 1, and I am thus far very pleased with it. The set comes with everything shown in the pictures (see the photo of the inside of the box lid for a breakdown of the pieces) and works as described. My Purchasing Purpose: As a chemical engineering student, I wanted to have a good ball-and-stick model for visualizing molecules in future chemistry and engineering classes. I purchased another model set before organic chemistry 1, but after little use the connections began to fall apart after being assembled. I would highly recommend buying this set or another comparable model for all students taking organic chemistry 1. Pros: The set has both ball-and-stick and space-filling modeling capabilities. The pieces completely remain together after being assembled, and, although pulling the connections apart requires a little force, dis-assembly is relatively easy (especially with the "molecular tool" included). When I purchased it, the set was priced lower and contained more pieces (including carbon atoms) than competing products. The plastic pieces appear to be of relatively good quality, and I anticipate that they will last for several years to come. I also received very good customer service. The set is excellent for learning topics such as isomerism, conformations, stereochemistry (chirality, enantiomers vs. diastereomers, Fischer projections) etc. All of these topics pertain to the connectivity and 3D spatial arrangement of atoms in molecules. Also, although double and triple bonds are made by connecting sp3 hybridized carbons with flexible rubber pieces (this was a complaint on a previous review), the model successfully demonstrates free rotation about single and triple bonds and inhibition of rotation around double bonds, which IMO is the most important part of modeling double/triple bonds. Cons: Unfortunately, the model does not work well for demonstrating cyclohexane conformations and chair flips, because rotating single bonds in cyclic structures is rather difficult. However, this would likely be the case for any ball-and-stick model on the market of these physical dimensions. Also, although the box is well divided into four compartments, the dividing walls do not extend to the top of the box, so the connecting pieces will tumble into other compartments when the kit is transported (I solve this issue by just placing the connectors in a zip-lock bag). Furthermore, the lid does not clip to the box very securely, so it may fall off if turned upside down (again solved with a zip-lock bag). The kit only comes with 14 carbon pieces, which for my purposes usually suffices, but if you want to build larger molecules you will obviously need another set.

Worth it.
For O-chem this year, I bought a model kit from the school bookstore. It was practically worthless. The atoms in it were tiny, and the bonds were too rigid to really manipulate. It didn't accurately represent chair conformations, as the ring laid flat rather than across 3 planes. You couldn't manipulate conformations with it, either (which is the whole point in a modelling kit). That crappy kit cost 25 dollars, came in a tupperware container, and looked like the student workers just threw the kits together... If your bookstore sells shady looking kits in tupperware, don't waste your money. Buy this kit instead. For about the same price I bought this one. It's much better quality and you can actually manipulate the molecules. I wish I would have found this kit before I wasted money at the school bookstore. Just about the only thing I would add is some more carbon atoms and pi bonds. There's plenty in the kit to build basic rings and molecules (which is what it's mostly used for), but my professor sometimes has us draw more complex structures, and it would be cool if I could build and manipulate those too (although not necessary). I'll probably eventually buy another kit to be able to do that.

Molecular Model Kit
I'm taking Organic Chemistry this semester and was recommended by my professor to purchase a molecular model kit. My professor had three recommendations for molecular model kits, but all were out of stock, and I wasn't very pleased with the look of the products. I did a quick search on Amazon and came across this exceptional model kit. For everything you get, I believe the price is very reasonable. A chart is provided on the inside cover which lists the quantities and a description of all the atoms and bonds that are included. The atoms are decently sized compared to others I have seen, which makes visualizing molecules even easier. The bonds fit easily into the atoms and do not come apart unless you are trying to disassemble the molecule. I look forward to using this product this semester, and will definitely recommend it to my professor and other students. Overall, I am very pleased with my purchase and am impressed with the customer service this company provides.

Excellent study tool
I purchased this Molecular Model set for a college level chemistry II course, which I will follow with organic chemistry I and II. My university uses this same brand in the lab and in the classroom. The ones at the university are old and still function very well. I have to memorize the names and how to draw the Lewis structures of several molecules. This kit really helps me to understand Lewis structures and molecular geometry. Molecular geometry is very hard to understand in 2D, but is easy to visualize in 3D. The kit simulates S and P orbitals very well. This kit has greatly helped me to remember how to draw those structures because I have learned to build them from memory. It's like a toy for my inner child and it makes chemistry fun! It is made of sturdy durable construction and all the parts are large which makes them easy to retrieve if dropped. I wish I'd had one since middle high school chemistry. Every serious student of chemistry should get one. I know It will be helpful into my professional career.

Great kit
I bought this Model set as a Christmas gift for my 12 year old son who is hooked on chemistry. The quality of the kit is excellent and the pieces look durable. The seller of the kit emailed me a helpful and concise instruction manual, well before the kit arrived. My son followed the instructions to build some fun molecules. As well as short and medium bonds for building simple molecules, the kit contains long flexible connectors for building double or triple bonds in complicated molecules (detailed in the manual). The pieces are perfect in size, and the atom and bond fit snuggly but disassemble easily with the use of a Molecular tool that is included in the kit. Overall this is a great educational set and I highly recommend for any student, young and old.

Great for everyone
This is a great kit, especially for organic chemistry students and teachers. The pieces are quite big, so it's easy to point out specific bonds, atoms, and angles, which makes it great for concepts like stereochemistry and isomers. There are four compartments, and the sides go up high enough to keep all but the little connectors in place. The lid doesn't click on, so rubber bands or tape may be needed if you carry this around. There is a helpful key on the inside to help you keep the colors straight as you build your molecules. There is even a little tool to help get the connectors out if you have short fingernails or weaker hands. I am very happy with this kit!
