Good cover; pretty sturdy
Got this for a new ipad 5th gen; so first thing to talk about: while the cover is for ipad4, it works with ipad 5 but you need to use a filer to stretch the opening for the volume buttons, because they are a hair off; and that cause the volume button to be pressed while you touch the case. Also you loose the microphone, since it is not placed like on the ipad 4, right below the rear camera. Beside that, the cover is really nice; with a plastic feel that give you confidence that it will stand quite a lot of beating. The keyboard is nice to use, takes a while to get used to the smaller keys, but it respond very well. It has backlight, but the light is coming from the side of the keys; so in a dark environment you won't see the keys illuminated clearly, but it is enough to type. Battery life is pretty good, and you can turn the keyboard off if you like, takes 2 seconds to turn it on and 3 seconds to turn it off; and even with backlight it should last weeks of usage. Pairing is a breeze; and also sliding the ipad in the cover is pretty simple. Be sure your ipad click on the top, there is a small tab in the center top part of the cover (where the volume buttons are), that click in place when the ipad is in the correct position. The hinge is super stiff; which is great; also it stay closed very well, and looks like a mini netbook from past age. Also it is nice that there is no cutoff for the apple logo; it is obnoxious when you see that; this cover is fully enveloping your device, so nobody can tell what are you using. On the negative side, the cover does not allow you to use the ipad comfortably, unless you use it for typing. The keyboard is neither detachable nor the hinge allow you to fold it backward, like a 2-1 laptop. So you end up with this awkward keyboard sticking out while you hold your ipad (Which is now heavier). Also due to the hinge design, access to the bottom part of the device is severely compromised; and takes efforts to get your fingers there, unless you have small hands. You can solve the issue by taking the ipad out of the cover, but that defy the purpose of having a cover. I wish there was a way to fold the keyboard all the way back, or to detach the ipad section when the keyboard is not needed, kinda like the Microsoft laptops. Overall a great cover for the price; the keyboard is nice and the whole thing looks and feel solid. Just minor inconveniences, that can be fixed maybe with a future version. Another issue with the hinge is that the plastic is very thin; it feels like it will break; although it flex quite a while. If you are a very rough person; avoid this cover; because it require you to use care and be gentle when opening and closing it. The cover can take a beat; the hinge is super flimsy, which is unfortunate. Some customers complained about the top half breaking up; so keep that in mind.

FANTASTIC PRODUCT (with a couple suggestions for Zagg...)
This is a GREAT keyboard with two small problems. First for the good. The case is compact and more than adequate to protect the iPad. The elegantly textured exterior is stylish (though it does pick up donut icing on fingers) and more importantly improves grip to prevent drops. The keyboard is extremely comfortable to use – and is indeed the only keyboard I've found with keys spaced comfortably apart from each other. This makes it ideal for power typists. No crowding of fingers on this keyboard! The backlighting works very well and the different colors are fun. It's great having the switches and indicator lights on top (not along the side as in earlier models) I hope very much that Zagg keeps making keyboards like this. It is my second, by the way. Here are the two problems: 1) The hinges have to be stiff to keep the screen in a desired position, but the stiffness puts a lot of stress on the plastic "hinge-rod" that runs between the two metal hinge rotation pins at either side. The result is that this part of the hinge (along the lower edge of the screen) breaks with repeated use. I do WD-40 mine from time to time, but obviously the stiffness in part of the design. What's needed is a beefier plastic rod joining the two internal metal pins at the hinge points. (Are you listening, Zagg?) 2) The hinge blocks finger access to the bottom of the screen, making the all-important up-swipe to get to the Control Center all but impossible. I solved this problem on mine by (carefully) cutting and inch out of the hinge-rod below the center of the screen (there is no metal in it at that point, This does void the warranty, of course...). Bingo, no more problem accessing the Control Center. My suggestion to Zagg is that they leave a one-inch or so stretch of the hinge-rod out in the manufacture. Yes it leaves a gap-tooth look on that side when the case is closed, but that is not a huge deal and in any case might be possible to hide with thin plastic while retaining finger access. (Are you listening, Zagg?) All and all I LOVE THIS PRODUCT. Thank you Zagg, and keep up the good work!

BEST iPad case ever sold, hands down. They DO NOT make them like this anymore, but they should!!
I love this case. I got it for my iPad mini (5th generation), even though it was not made for it, it still fits perfectly, and allows all access to the buttons. My only complaint is that it is hard to get some of the symbols to show up on the iPad, for example the tilde (~). But I consider this an iOS fault, and not really the fault of the keyboard. My other complaint is that the specific case I had was terribly difficult to open, and as such, it only lasted 2.5 years before it broke. I estimate that I had opened/closed it more than 5,000 times in that span, based on how often I used it, so I got my $25 worth! Trust me when I tell you that the $25 price tag is WELL WORTH IT, even if you only get 2.5 years out of it. I literally dropped my iPad in the parking lot, and all it did was put a ding in the round corner of the case. My iPad and keyboard? PERFECTLY FINE! I will not upgrade my iPad until someone makes a HARD CASE like these Zagg cases. This will be my 3rd Folio case, and I cannot stress enough, how much they are worth it. I cannot stand the newer "soft" cases, that require a kickstand to support the iPad. I'm convinced that some cleaver engineering could result in a (hard) case that can support the weight of the iPad while open, so that it can support itself like a laptop; even if that means implementing a kickstand that comes out of the back of the case to support the weight. I'm sure there are very, very smart engineers out there designing these products. Get off your duffs and build us a nice hard iPad case that open/closes like a book, and not just floppy covers that clumsily fold into an origami kickstand for the larger iPads!! PLEASE! I'll add pics later (if possible) of the hinge that (finally) broke, and the knock it took in the parking lot, less than a week after I got it.

Best ipad mini case EVER to replace your laptop
Best case for ipad mini! I've bought 2 of these previously. Turns your ipad mini into a laptop. PROS: 1. Keyboard has the best feel. Keys are easy to type on, feels like a desktop keyboard. Some ipad keyboards have buttons in odd places or odd functions (like pressing shift + delete to backspace). This is very intuitive. I could type all day on this one! It's honestly better than my desktop keyboard. 2. Backlighting keyboard- beautiful colors, and dimmable (3 brightness levels). I use this feature most on the airplane. The colors range from a deep blue, teal, white, yellow, green, red, and pink. 3. Not bulky at all- very slim profile. 4. Professional look. The stitching on the outside gives a classy look, in my opinion 5. Long charge! I can use this for weeks without charging. I barely remember to do it. 6. Hinge is sturdy, and ipad stays where you put it. Doesn't flop over or move around. Good for watching movies, typing, or working at different angles. CONS: 1. Doesn't swivel. You can hold it like a book, but it's awkward. Pretty much for landscape view only. 2. Exterior scratches easily. I've picked up a few dings during my travels.

Quality is excellent
I have used Zagg for my ipads for several years without an issue. The case before this one eventually broke at the hinge after a couple of years. This case which is the first one I got through amazon ( after Zagg said they were sold out) lasted 3 and a half months before the hinge broke. Needless to say I was disappointed, I went ahead and ordered another one and this one has been working so well that I felt I should revise my review. It looks great and keeps my mini secure.

Poor quality
>>>>Update September 16, 2019 The keyboard case broke after 1 month of light use after leaving my review. Poor quality control. I will not buy ZAGG products anymore. >>>>>>>!!!! I have bought several Keyboard cases for my Ipad mini 4 and none of them performed well. This case is different. On the outside it looks like an organizer and then it opens up and it looks like my iPad Mini is a palmtop. PROS: 1. Very Slim 2. Looks very professional. Looks expensive and not as a toy like other cases. 3. Very handsome case 4. Pairing took seconds 5. I don't have to hold the iPad anymore when I surf, type or watch something. 6. The keyboard keys have a gap between them making it easier to type with less fat finger mistakes. 7. Very inexpensive 8. I have been using it for a month every day and I have not recharged it yet. CONS: 1. I have not found an issue yet, but It should send a Bluetooth signal to the iPad to go to sleep when you close the case would be a nice feature to have. SUMMARY: I love this case. I get all the benefits of the iPad and have overcome the other downsides. It is light, functional and looks good. What more can you want? I highly recommend and use it.

A Wonderful Bluetooth Keyboard Case for the iPad Mini 4
The Zagg case is a perfect fit for my iPad Mini. I never thought I would need a keyboard until I tried this and now I don't know how I can get along without it. It is sturdy, but not bulky. The design is appealing with a comfortable feel. My only complaint would be that the hinge is too close to the edge of the iPad making it difficult to touch a command on the bottom of the iPad screen. I get around this by turning the orientation of the iPad from the horizontal position to the vertical position which is inconvenient-but no big deal. The quality of the keyboard and blue tooth functionality is outstanding and the keys are very solid and are backlit. It holds a charge for quite a long time. Did I mention that the price was exceptionally reasonable?

Works with Beta IPad OS
Got it for under 20 bucks on Amazon, was just looking for a cover for my mini 4. The keyboard is actually very easy to use and a real keyboard, not some plastic/rubber push pad. Even night lit (LED light up with choice of 4 colors), construction is more solid than any case I could imagine under $40. With Beta 13 on the mini I added a 14 dollar Bluetooth mouse that works on iPad OS (white of course) and actually have a iPad mini 4 laptop. Even has the Mac keys/shortcuts on the keyboard. Not sure how I'll use this new functionality, but it is fun!
