We had an old lamp like this one that had a halogen bulb that had worked for 30 years, but finally was falling apart and no longer usable. We were happy to see this one on Amazon with the same type of metal, bowl-shaped fixture that would direct all the light upward so no direct light was visible. When it arrived, I was happy to see how easy it went together. You just have to be very careful when screwing the pieces of the pole together - if you cross thread it and damage the threads, it's going to be a problem. Just take your time and be very careful about getting the threads meshed before you tighten it down. Follow directions and do it exactly in the way they say, and it will go easily. Once together, we plugged it in and turned it on, and loved the range of light and softness of it. I had seen some that had cold temperature bulbs, but neither of us like that as the light is too harsh. This one is great- nice, soft light, and the dimmer works great - from very dim to quite bright. Way more of a range than we really need, but that's much better than not enough. And this LED light will use much less electricity than the old halogen one we had. I had read reviews from some who said the switch was too rinky-dink, and that could be true. We're just very gentle with turning it on and off and adjusting brightness, and hopefully that will never be a problem. Very happy! If any problems arise, this will be updated.

Comes in a small package, as it's actually 4 or 5 pieces that need screwing together. The glass cover and shade need attaching with these oddly shaped brackets. And there are NO INSTRUCTIONS. But it's not hard to figure out. The lamp itself is good. The variable control works, and you can set the brightness, turn it off at a wall switch, and it will turn back on at the same brightness. This allows me to use it as a nightlight when we have guests. Nice heavy base. Looks good.

It's a pretty good lamp with a nicely weighted base and a manual switch on the pole. I chose it for the switch--it was worth the extra $20 to avoid dealing with the inconvenience of a remote. As others have mentioned, it's no substitute for the halogen torchiere it replaced. The dimming range is noticeably less--at its brightest it is dimmer, and at its dimmest it is much brighter, than my expired and dearly regretted halogen lamp. I don't really like the light color either, it's too cool for my taste. However, I solved that by draping a floral scarf over the light source (one great advantage of LED tech over halogen is that you can do that without incinerating your fabric). And, over years of use, the LED light color will warm up as the intensity fades. I don't know what happens when the light is too dim to be usable, there's no indication that the LEDs are replaceable. I dread the day I'll be forced to send it to the landfill. Like others, I had trouble with the threading on one of the joins. After carefully and repeatedly screwing, unscrewing and slowly rescrewing the two rods and brushing the threads with a toothbrush to remove clingy bits of paint and styrofoam, just to have it lock down again and again, I finally solved the problem by unscrewing it most of the way and applying a bit of WD-40. (I hate the fumes, but sometimes it's the only thing that works.) Despite the issues, for the money I paid I'm satisfied with this lamp. UPDATE: I bought two more of these lamps for another room. I noticed that the rotary switch and the join threading on the lamp components was visibly different.l so perhaps the new lamps were manufactured somewhere else. No problem at all with screwing the pieces together, WD-40 not needed. Still, if you order this lamp, won't hurt to have some on hand 😉

I have purchased 3 of these. Bright light and easy to assemble. One of them I removed sections to make a tall matching table lamp in corner where corner shaped desk prevents using floor lamp (requires splicing cord).

Love it so far! I have 3 older halogen 300 watt torches. I like this one better. Build quality is about the same. Tubing is a bit thinner. Metal base is heavy and will stand even on medium pile rug. Switch feels better than my old ones actually. This 30 watt torch is almost as bright as the 300 watt halogen. You have to have them on and side by side to tell this. Temp is good, around 32K. LEDS run very cool as well as the adapter w/brightness high. Has plastic dust guard over LEDS facilitating cleaning. No more burning dust smell when not used for a few months and 10x? less of a fire hazard? Been using it 2 weeks solid now, no issues. I'll use this way more than I ever did the halogens. Good product! Edit: Died after 2 months. I had static on me when I touched it. Will not shut off. Brightness is wacky and pot seems to warm up a bit where it never did. I'll take it apart. Grrrr.

We couldn't be happier with our new BoostArea torchiere lamps! We initially bought a black one to replace a scorching-hot halogen lamp that was, frankly, a hazard. The new 30W LED lamp lights up our large living room beautifully, just as brightly as the old 300W one but without all the heat. We love the warm, natural 3200K light, which perfectly matches the old halogen's color. Plus, it can dim much lower, which is a nice touch. It's also much lighter and easier to move around. We were so impressed that we bought a second one in white for another room. The assembly was a breeze, and it's just as attractive as our first lamp. It's a great value for the price, and the customer service from BoostArea was top-notch when we reached out. We would definitely recommend them and buy from them again.

For the price, I was prepared for something flimsy. But no - this is well designed and constructed, and looks like something that would sell for a multiple of the price. It arrives knocked down but assembly takes only a few minutes and needs no tools. The height is good, the lighting is even and the on/off/adjustment knob on the column is much more convenient than a floor switch.

We now have three! Great light color that doesn’t hurt my eyes like so many LEDs and plenty of light. Simple control switch. Good height to get glare above eye level. Sturdy and a good value! UPDATE: in just a few months one has malfunctioned and won't turn off. Too late to return. Maybe I'll put an external switch on it.
