## Description

Up in the opulent celestial Capital of the Lofty realm, the Spoiled harvest goddess sakuna whiles away her life in luxury, resting on the laurels of her late parents. Below in the lowly realm, a vicious mountain bandit chases a group of desperate humans to the edge of a cliff. A bridge between the two realms appears, and it is there that sakuna crosses paths with the "children of men." in the commotion that follows, the goddess and the waylaid mortals cause a great explosion that earns them the ire of the celestial ruler, lady kamuhitsuki. She exiles them to hinoe island, a mysterious place bordering the Earth and heavens that sakuna's parents once called home, and commands them to reclaim the aptly titled “Isle of demons” from the clutches of a monstrous horde. As the daughter of a Warrior god and harvest goddess, sakuna will rediscover her birthright in this untamed wilderness by weathering the elements, fighting monsters, and cultivating the soil. And by helping their Immortal protector, the humans Banished with her may yet find the reason to live that was stolen from them in the war-torn lowly realm. Together, these unlikely companions must join hands to tame both the soil and the demons of hinoe island.

Review: Lots of fun, interesting gameplay loop - The gameplay loop of Sakuna is (generally) as follows: You grow rice. The quality of your rice is determined by how you grow the starting sprouts, how you till your field, how you space the rice during planting, how much water you use at various stages, the kind of fertilizers you use (you make your own), when you harvest, and how you process the rice (like hulling, polishing). The final stats of your rice affect how *your* stats grow (hp, attack, etc), which allows you to do better in combat. The more you fight, the more places you unlock, and the greater the variety of materials you can gather, which allows you to grow better crops. Growing better crops makes you stronger, and loop. While the farming process can be VERY involved, you can play the game just fine without min-maxing or micromanaging your crops. So, if you are not a fan of super farming management, that is fine! You will still have a lot of fun, and at later stages of the game, NPCs can automate and take over the farming if you want. They won't do as well as if you do it yourself, but if you don't like this part of the game, then you do not have to do it! Combat areas are 2D platforms. Sakuna has a fairly wide range of combat styles you can do, and you have a lot of flexibility in button mapping. The farm is 3D, and you can interact with NPCs, collect bugs and produce, craft weapons and clothing, etc. It is a pretty solid game, and let it consume my life for a little while. I love both farming sim/management games and fighting games, and Sakuna is a great crossover between these genres.
Review: Love it - I meant to buy this game for a years and I was never convinced. I finally got it on sale, as it usually is, and my only regret is not buying it when it first came out. I find this game very fun to play, the rice growing mechanic is addictive, and the dungeons are fun and challenging. It can sometimes feel a little tedious, but that's the whole point of the game, but do not worry too much about this as you will unlock faster and easier way to grow your rice.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Does it only support English?**
A: probably not it was advertised in a nintendo direct that was shown only in japan

**Q: Does this game have replay value?**
A: Hmm if you mean something along post game content, yeah, I'd say it has a good amount, especially if you end up liking the combat aspect of the game. There's a 300 floor dungeon that I found to be addicting and challenging to try to get through, and if you get far enough, you get materials for post game weapons/upgrades. And of course, you can continue to farm rice, which gives permanent stat increases if done well.

**Q: En que idioma esta?**
A: Japones original, subtitulos Español y otros idomas configurables

**Q: Is it Physical Copy or digital code?**
A: Physical. The digital version is available on the eshop, but not on Amazon (in April 2021, at least).

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Farming Rice was never so fun
*by K***H on February 28, 2024*

Game review: if you like growing digital rice where making decisions where each sprout goes, how much water there is, when to harvest, and how to finish the rice. This is a good fit. If you also like to play platformers with evolving abilities and special attacks while gathering the ingredients for said rice, this is also for you. And this game blends them seamlessly. It's a great game, and even has a good story too, especially for that bratty girl in your life that could learn humility. Very good voice acting too. All around a wonderful game to have.
