Thailand quality
Quality non-magnetic stainless steel. The highest negative remark I see is that it's not stainless steel because it's not magnetic, it is 18/8 stainless steel which is 8% high nickel content and 18% chromium. This removes the magnetic bond of the metal, increases the corrosion resistance and the quality to make it last forever. All while remaining food safe steel. My previous pot was fifteen years old and went through rough years of use, the char marks got too bad and needed to be replaced. Perfect size for bushcraft and all around outdoor adventures. Great room to store items and cook.

Well made camp pot
Well madeof heavier gauge steel; so not ideal for lightweight backpackers, but PERFECT for car camping! I bought both the 1.1L pot, as well as the 800ml. The smaller pot fits inside the larger with space to pack a small sove around it. I really appreciate the locking lid feature. Great gear!

Great Pot for More Than One
I purchased this pot to replace my 775ml MSR pot. Which while it was great was in need of replacing due to use. I also am now cooking for more than one person usually so I wanted something that I could use for two people. Pros: - Well constructed Stainless Steel - Durable Cons: - Not the lightest pot - Liquids tend to dribble These are great for camping as they are quite compact. The build quality is seems solid, however they are not the lightest pot of this size on the market. Probably lean towards titanium for backpacking, but for camping these work well. The pot is hinged to lock in the pot cover and handle. Great design and easy to unlock and secure. I prefer not to cook in a cup or extremely small pot. If I can fit this in my pack and I can easily. It works for me. You don't have to be afraid of taking a scouring pad to it to clean it out like you do with the non stick pots. This pot is a package in itself. The pot boils water and is large enough to fry food and everything stays in. Did I mention the lid doubles as a plate. All in all, the pot is tough and durable. You can cook over an open fire or on a stove. I would easily purchase this again .. its just a tough little pot with no frills.

Quality Budget Backpacking Pot
Works great, both frying, and boiling dehydrated food. The 1.1 L is pretty big great for when you have to cook for 2 or 3. On a trip to the Triple Divide in Glacier National Park we fed 3 people from this pot for a few days. I have cooked quinoa for 4 people in this pot on a backpacking trip on the Catskills. It's not a massive serving for each and we had all cooked a hotdog over the fire too but it is much bigger than you'll need for a solo trip. The price is good. I love that you can stow the leftovers for lunch or breakfast the next morning. The only draw back is that it is a bit on the heavy side. If you have the money to spare I would go with the Snowpeak - Cook N Save Titanium Pot. I was on a small budget so this pot did the trick for my belly and my wallet. The Snowpeak - Cook N Save Titanium Pot half the weight and you can still save you food. You can get a larger pot for half the weight, but it's twice the price. For the money this pot has done me good. Happy Hiking!

Great pot! MSR does well!
Oh I love this pot! Well see how it holds up with the pinch welds but I'll just drill and bolt if they fail. Seems be fine as the rest is really good quality. Came kinda poorly packed amd had small dent but I'll give it many more so ain't worried bout that. Doesn't pour water well slow so be midfull if hot, pour fast and accurate or make a small notched dent lid will still fit, not 100% sealed flush though but it will pour well slow! Easy to drill lid for ventilation/steam holes. Makes useful for making water vapors to catch and drink from unsafe water. Not non stick at all! But cleans up well with sand abrasion scrubbing shines like new! Not too big ot too small. Perfect for 1 or 2 Maybe 3 people depending on size diet intake requirements. Great stainless steel material very quality made. Compatibility with other camping gear. Handle come off easy but never on accident This make clean easier.

Awesome pot for groups; fits GSI Kettle and MSR Alpine fry pan
The MSR Stowaway Pot 1.6 L is the largest stowaway pot that MSR offers. For a backpacking pot, it's huge, but by home cooking standards, it's fairly average/medium sized in diameter and slightly short in height compared to most kitchen pots. It's very well made from high quality stainless steel with a terrific locking design that ensures the lid stays on tight and anything stored inside stays put. Since I enjoy bushcraft and often cook over an open fire, I settled on stainless steel for its ruggedness. (Titanium leads to annoying hot spots and poor heat distribution--especially in large pots like this one--and aluminum always seems to warp and lose its non-stick coating over the heat of a campfire.) With a short length of wire such as a coat hanger, you can also rig the folding handle so that it can be used like a bail handle to hang the pot over a fire, as several folks have demonstrated on YouTube. I bought this pot to build a cookset for my family of five. I am combining this 1.6 L stowaway pot with the (excellent) MSR Alpine fry pan and the (excellent) GSI Glacier Stainless Kettle. All three go together so well it seems like they belong together. The fry pan nests perfectly around the bottom of the 1.6 L pot, and the smaller (1 L) GSI Kettle fits inside the pot nicely, with a little room around the perimeter for small and flexible items (a scrub pad, some small utensils, etc.). The metal tabs that hold the bail handle on the GSI Kettle do press against the underside of the stowaway pot's lid, but if you use a needle-nose pliers to bend the tabs downward about 1/8", the kettle fits inside perfectly with the lid locked down securely. These three pots have been a superb campfire cookset for our five-person family. The 1.6 L pot is large enough to cook a full box of Macaroni and Cheese (or a family-size stew, etc.) while we brew coffee in the GSI Kettle. The fry pan is not essential, but it's so convenient for cooking bacon, eggs, fish, burgers, and other delicious items. We could probably use the stowaway pot (or its lid) as a makeshift fry pan, but I don't like frying in a deep pot or on a curved lid with no handle. Instead, I'll carry the extra weight to have a proper fry pan. And at a total weight of 2.5 lbs., that's only 0.5 lbs. per person for the entire cookset. If you're assembling your own group cookset and you need a solid large stainless pot to contain most of the kit, this 1.6L Stowaway pot is an excellent choice. For only one or two, I think most weight- and space-conscious hikers/campers will find this pot to be too large, and would likely prefer one of the smaller sizes. Regardless, the quality and function are great! Highly recommended! [UPDATE 3/4/2014: For experiment's sake, I tried using the lid of this 1.6L pot as a makeshift fry pan as some others have suggested. Size-wise, it's a great size. However, without a handle, it is virtually impossible to cook delicate foods (eggs, pancakes, etc.) over an open fire. You need a good glove/oven mitt to protect your fingers and then either cook on a nice bed of hot-but-not-too-hot coals and watch very attentively, or over a cook stove with a nice low flame setting; otherwise, get used to obnoxious scorching. But it can be made to work. So, for further experiment's sake, I tried removing the handle from the pot, then screwing a stainless loop onto the lid to reattach the handle as a fry pan handle. That worked much better because I could easily remove/replace the pan from the fire without risk of burning my hand, controlling the heat much better. However, it's still a far cry from the more pleasant and predictable cooking of the MSR Alpine fry pan. Lid frying in this pot is workable in a pinch, but demands all your attention and certainly, without a handle, exponentially increases your risk of burnt food or a burnt hand.] [UPDATE 7-7-2015: Still loving this cookset. With my modification so that I can attach the handle to the lid, I now use the lid as a frypan fairly often, allowing me to eliminate the weight of the separate Alpine Fry Pan when I'm backpacking with my family. Having a self-contained cookset with a lid that locks on is so very convenient, and after a LOT of cooking over the fire, my pot is none the worse for wear (except for some blackening of the metal, of course, which gives it character). These pots are bombproof; they will last you a lifetime of normal camp cooking. Great stuff.]

An excellent cooking pot! Great value!
Loving this pot! It's MSR so I know it's good stuff. I've owned MSR stuff for the last 20 years and I still have it all. They make great quality items and this is no exception. The pot is heavier than I expected and thankfully so. There are a few items I can't backpack without. Tent, sleeping bag, stove, pot. Good to know this will be around when I need it. It has a great contraption for closing the lid and even under force from stuffing it full of gear it holds well and I don't worry about it breaking. It packs small and fits really well with the wood fired cookstove Portable Stainless Steel Wood Burning Camp Stove - Wolfyok(TM) Outdoor Firewood / Wood Camp Stove for Camping, Hunting, Backpacking, Picnic . If you put the stove in the pot it doesn't fit perfect vertically and will leave the lid high a few millimeters but it doesn't matter because it clamps together and holds it tight which will stop it from wearing the pot through rubbing. If you consider this option you'll have a nice little combo for cooking. The pot and stove are a great combo and both are affordable. It's a little heavier than I expected but marginally. It doesn't need maintenance and there are no parts to loose. The lid latch seconds as a handle. Not only is this high quality but it has engraving on the lid, the pot, etc... I look forward to the years of using this little pot. I paid full price happily for this item.

Perfect for backpacking.
Perfectly nests my Ohuhu jet stove. Great quality from MSR as always. Itโs stainless steel- bring steel wool if you intend on cleaning it properly. Fits ramen packets perfectly.

Great Quality & Great little stew pot/ Lunch container
Awesome little pot!!! I keep it in the warmer at work and my food stays hot and ready for feast at lunch. Also great for camping or hiking etc. Also very easy to warm up food on portable gas stoves etc. Lid seals nice & tight eliminating spills with stews etc. Maybe I'll buy a couple more. Great gift idea that will be used for many years to come.

Great camping pot.
I have used this pot for the past 4 summers on my sea kayak trips. It has held up great and holds all of my cooking utensils securely with its locking lid.
