Exactly what I wanted
After using the Lamy 1.1mm stub on my Al-Star for a while, I wanted to try a wider one. The 1.1 gives a slight bit of line variation, but normal cursive writing can be difficult to destinguish from a normal nib. This 1.5mm hits the sweet spot I was looking for perfectly. It's far less subtle, my cursive looks written with a stub. It also makes writing more Gothic style fonts easier. It's still small enough that daily journal entries can be written at a reasonable size and stay quite legible. On top of that, this nib retains a nice, smooth feel on paper. Lamy hasn't made it a knife-blade style nib. You can write as quick and carefree as with any other nib. Side benefit: Shading inks look so nice coming out of this nib! Photo attached to show how awesome it is.

Brand Name Lamy Stub Nib
This is a brand name Lamy 1.5mm stub nib. It performed flawlessly when swapped into a Lamy Safari Vista using Noodler's Walnut ink in a Lamy converter. I am using it for calligraphy writing, and I am impressed by its smoothness despite creating crisp lines. It was a less expensive way to turn my Safari into a Safari/Joy hybrid. I'd you're looking into trying calligraphy, this is a less expensive way to start with Lamy brand reliability instead of Chinese knock-offs that are rarely reliable.

What A Nib!!
I really appreciate a number of things about the Lamy Al-Star. One aspect in particular is that you can easily change the nib to one of 6 difference sizes. The range of nibs run from EF, F, M, B 1.5 and even a 1.9 callgraphic one. To switch out nibs is something anyone ( you don't have to be a nib specialist ) can do! I picked the 1.5 because the largest nib I'd used on a Lamy is the medium. Wow, this 1.5 delivers great line variation. I ordered this nib from Resourses for Teaching, London, UK. I am in the United States and my order arrived packaged great and much sooner than I thought. I will make Resourses for Teaching my go to place when I get other size nib for my Al-Star. They have the full range of nibs. I will be trying more sizes.

I have the 1.5 nib as well as the 1.1 and 1.9 versions. The 1.1 is excellent for everyday writing with just a bit of a fancy flair, and the 1.9 offers very, very nice line variation that makes one's writing look truly beautiful, but is maybe a bit too wide for regular note-taking. This 1.5 is a very good compromise: not too think and is suitable for everyday use, and good line variation. If I had to pick only one of the three Lamy stubs, I'd go with the 1.5.

Quality Nib
Lamy may be considered an entry level product, but they are QUALITY all the way. My favorite nib of all, with great line variation.

A bit stiff, but great to work with.
A bit stiff, have to use more pressure than expected for a good flow. Love the depth of variant lines. I put this on a Lamy Safari umbra using Diamine green/black ink.

I don't know if it's legit but it works
I had some luck using this with my lamy safari and noodlers ink but I can't really speak for its legitimacy as a LAMY original. It does work with the Lamy safari although I have had issues with ink drying under it.

Lamy nibs are one of the easiest to change but the price is off-putting. Seems crazy that a nib is almost as expensive as a whole pen, but this one came up at a decent price. It allowed me to use preferred stub on the most frequently used Al-star and move up a thickness on my other Lamys, retiring the Extra Fine I didn't like.

Qualità straordinaria. Adoro il tratto di questo pennino. Ha riacceso la mia voglia di scrivere.

I own a couple of fountain pens. Being left handed, the best nibs are on the thickest side of the spectrum. This is very confortable to write.

Nib was great but packaging it came in raised quite concern. It was basic white small box with out any label of Lamy....
