I'm pleased with it.
I recently purchased a few Windows 10 Dell 7480 laptops and these are now the norm, since Dell has come away from the standard docking station that you set your laptop down onto and it attaches. This now plugs right into a port on your PC. Pretty simple. I am using the PC now with two monitors and the laptop display all open and using them separate from one another (extended desktop mode). I had to perform an update after installing the driver from the supplied USB stick that they give you and the screen blinked a few times and then started working just fine. I've been using this for a little over 2 months with only that one weird initial instance. Works good!

Easy setup, reliable.
This is for a 2017 Dell XPS-13. I wanted to take advantage of USB C; one connection serving everything including charging. However the third party dock I initially bought for this purpose refused to play nice with my monitor; neither HDMI nor DisplayPort worked, so it was returned. Turns out this is not an uncommon problem and I read an article on a tech website recently which questioned whether USB C is really up to its promise yet. Sigh. This dock works fine, the only compromise being I need to connect with USB 3 and the laptop's power adapter. However, the connection is reliable and my desktop setup driven by a laptop works great. Update after six-weeks. Changing between laptop and dock is not as seamless as I would like. After using my laptop by itself, next time I plug into the dock the display size of some app windows e.g. Outlook is just wrong, even if the laptop was shut down before plugging into the dock. Need to re-start again to get windows looking like they should on the big monitor. I have dropped my rating one star for this (admittedly minor) inconvenience.

Works great.
Docking station Working great now. When I first connected, it would not accept signal from one of my monitors. But working great now.

Don't make the mistake I made!
Wish I would have tried setting this up right when I got it! I'm past the return date now so I'm left with an overpriced paper weight, as the video output doesn't work as needed in my setup. I planned on using this on my Windows partition on my Macbook Pro, but the video does not render properly in many applications. Hooking directly to my laptop to either displays using mini-DVI to HDMI works fine, but through the D1000 only the desktop renders properly-- any floating applications have weird behavior (some will seem to work for awhile only to stop showing content all together if moved around).

Works on Linux with minor modifications
This displaylink device was purported to work with Ubuntu 14.04. I'm using Linux Mint 17.3, which is based on Ubuntu 14.04.3, so out of the box, no video, no sound, the only thing that works is connecting usb devices, despite the fact that a new driver for Ubuntu link was released by displaylink recently (Dec, 2015). After a couple of days of searching boards, I managed to get the latest displaylink driver working (v 335) by making updates to the install script that proved successful for others. Tweaks were very minor, it's surprising that display link doesn't support natively. Only complaint is that you'll notice some slight video lag when using an external monitor over using the built-in thunderbolt 2 video port. Honestly, this makes some sense bc the video has to be piped out through a usb-C port, which has lower capacity than a true video port. My setup is a brand new, xps-13 2015 laptop running Linux Mint 17.3 (Ubuntu 14.04.3.)

So unless you are good with this stuff
I am having a hard time getting this to work. My husband works in IT and did not find the setup to be user friendly. He said when he has more time he will spend the time figuring it out. So unless you are good with this stuff, prepare for a possible difficult set up. I have been reading user feedback from people who seen to understand more, but this is not a follow the directions after plug in kind of purchase. Since it's sold by Amazon you can't get help troubleshoot issues when setting up. This is petty, but, the price is about 16 bucks cheaper than when I purchased it and Amazon doesn't price match. I am past the return date (left it in the box a bit too long) so I can't return it. I am sure this will work eventually, but unless you are good with this kind of stuff, have the time and are getting a good deal, I would look for something else.

Easy setup works great.
Needed a good docking station for my Dell 5000 series laptop. This worked great. I plugged my monitor into and and Internet into and just Plugged the USB 3.0 connection into my laptop bam it works great. I have full landline internet and my monitor can be used as a second monitor or as my main one with my laptop shut. Just had to go in and tell my DELL laptop system that I wanted dual monitor setup. worked easy and setup was easy and I mean anyone can do it. Just make sure that when you load the driver ( comes with a Black USB key to plug in) that comes with it to open up the file and Download the software. Buying another one for the office.
