Easy to assemble and works fantastic.

I bought this unit to replace a faulty MSATA to PATA adapter that I'd purchased some time ago, the one that looks like it was thrown together in a day. I needed it to add an SSD to a ThinkPad x41, which requires a 3.3v drive, and adapters that support that were limited to the aforementioned adapter until this unit came around, so naturally I snapped one up. When it arrived, I was quick to install it into my x41 after flipping the switch to 3.3v (the 5v option will be useful if I ever need to reuse this), only to find out that with the casing installed, it wouldn't fit. Upon further examination, I found that the standoffs for the screws were just a little too short, causing the IDE pins to be out of alignment when the adapter had the casing on it. Installing it bare resolved this issue, and the unit works fine aside from this, but it's not ideal seeing as how I can't install it into the laptop's drive caddy. Again, other than that, the unit works fantastically. The speeds are excellent compared to the 4200 RPM 1.8 inch drive that the laptop came with, and it's a nicely put together unit.

I purchased this enclosure to install into my G4 Cube and it functioned right away with no problems. I will be using this adapter for all my other IDE legacy hardware restoration projects

Revived an old laptop with IDE drive. Start up is much faster now

(One Star) - Item arrived in thin plastic bubble type bag, allowing possible damage, otherwise poor packaging. Once opened, I noted the kit had ZERO hardware, specifically the tiny Plastic cover mounting screws. I tested the board on a known good computer with (2) separate known-good 64gb mSATA cards without any success. The computer did not recognize the board, nor the mSATA SSD's. Note, this same computer does recognize and operate with a different brand adapter board.

My low rating is purely based on the fact that I was unable to use this for my intended use and not related to anything else, I have added my observations in hopes that others may learn from my experience. I purchased this to replace the HDD in an old Dell laptop, however the HDD is mounted in a sled and the configuration of the mounting holes on this make using it impossible as you can see from the images, the connector ends up recessed about 12mm and in addition there is no way to stabilize with a rear set of screws. This product may work well in a laptop that doesn't have the mounting limitations that I have with the laptop I'm trying to upgrade. Maybe adding some additional side mounting holes and/or an optional full-length enclosure would have allowed me to make use of this product.

Great little adapter to use SSD technology in a 1.8" IDE PATA disk slot on a vintage computer. Just be careful to flick to tiny voltage switch to the right settings for the SSD otherwise it won't work !

Incluye un selector de voltaje de entrada de 5 o 3,3v (en el caso del Amiga 1200, posicionar en 5v), además de una zona para controlar mediante jumpers si el dispositivo va a ser maestro o esclavo. Si no pones ningún jumper, se asume maestro. Funciona a la perfección y me da juego colocándola dentro de la carcasa de un Amiga 1200 donde el espacio es muy limitado.
