Very Accurate Scale - simple and effective
Excellent scale if you don't need all the bells and whistles that many other ones come with. I really needed a scale that was minimal and did the one thing that it should do effectively, consistently and accurately. This scale is perfect for that. I have no need for all the other features that many scales offer. I have better ways of achieving what I need that those features provide. IMPORTANT NOTE RE. TURNING THE SCALE ON: The user manual says "tap the center of the weigh scale". This is WRONG! I was so frustrated with trying to get it on easily, that I almost returned this thing. Then, by chance I figured out what was needed: Press down on the center of the scale with the ball of one foot for a couple of seconds. The scale will turn on and the screen will light up. Next take your foot off the scale, wait for it to show 0.00, then step onto the scale to measure your weight" Works like a charm. Also love the auto-off feature. So take it out, turn on, measure, and just put away. Quick and easy.

Very Accurate Scale
I've had this scale for over a month. Overall I prefer this scale to my old Health-o-Meter. I'm happy with my purchase. Pros: 1) The scale is very accurate. I had an appointment with my doctor and was weighed in the office. This scale is within ounces of the scale in my doctor's office. 2) You can weigh yourself multiple times in a row and get a close, but different reading. My old scale would repeat the exact same weight if you repeatedly stepped on and off the scale. I've read that there is some sort of memory in some scales that will do this. This Tanita scale can give a different reading each time you step on. For example, the scale could give you a weight of 150.2. You could step down and the back on immediately and weigh 150.4 when you step back up. I really like that it will not spit back a memorized weight. 3) The backlight is a nice feature that my old scale did not have. Cons: 1) This scale is difficult to turn on. I sometimes have to step on it 2 or 3 times with my full weight before it comes on. It will not come on with just a tap of the foot. 2) The scale weighs in .2 increments. I don't care for this. I would prefer .1 increments. But because the scale is so accurate, I will live with it.

to need a scale very accurate highly recommended
this is absolutely the best home bathroom digital scale I have ever owned it's Japanese made and very high-quality and it cost about $50 versus the cheap junk it's sold in stores for around $20 like the very inaccurate Taylor scales. This Tanita scale is extremely accurate weights are very reproducible there's no variance of the weight I know it's accurate as it weighs precisely the same weight as another brand of scale I have that's also extremely accurate so it can't be a coincidence that they both read exactly the same. Very highly recommended I'll never buy anything ever again in the future only Tanita

So far, so good. Nice looking and good functional.
So far, so good. It arrived on Friday and we've used it a few times. Seems to be working great. We won't know how accurate until we get our weight taken at the doctor, then come home and weigh to see if any differences. Numbers are large, readout is bright. Every weight so far has been xxx.6 pounds, so not sure if the decimal is always going to be .6 or if we're just very consistent with our weight, even though my husband's is not the same weight as mine, the two days I've checked mine the weight was with a .6 and the day we first received the scale my husband's had a .6 as well. I will try and update if I can figure out how to do that once we have it longer. 3 days is really not enough time to use something to give a good review. Shipping was fine, although there was a small dent in the bottom of the box;, it did not harm the inside items. So after a few more days, it definitely seems to be functioning properly and giving consistent readings. Shipping time was good as well.

A great scale. Had to get used to the mechanism but so far, it's working.

Wildly inconsistent!
I purchased this scale to replace an older scale that was beginning to show its age with inconsistent readings but this newer scale seems to be even worse in that regard. I even changed the batteries to my own (opened a NEW brand name pack) yet it’s still giving me inconsistent back-to-back readings with more than a pound difference at times! If it were a mere ounce or two (or even three) then I could maybe understand but a pound or so over? In less than a handful of minutes time when literally nothing else has changed? That’s just unreliable and a headache of a guessing game I simply don’t need nor want. Like I said, I could work with an ounce or so but this is just not trustworthy at all. Also way off base from my old scale which read 163.8 and an hour later it still read 163.8 where this scale an hour later would again give me a different number than all of the previous readings an hour prior! I’m disappointed because I really thought this being a Japanese company (and Japan-made scale) would mean better quality and performance. I expected more than what I got quality wise upon unboxing and I wasn’t crazy about the weirdly heavy push down of pressure you need to give the middle of the scale to wake it up but I was quick to brush those things off because I still thought performance wise it would succeed. Now that’s it’s failed at its one job those other things just drive home the fact that this scale is cheaply and poorly made and the signs were there from the start. And the price point of this scale is hardly cheap! I spent so much time looking at scales before deciding to go with this brand and model too. A part of me is tempted to give one of their China-made scales a chance but I just don’t know if it’s worth it after my experience with this model. I’m probably better off going with a different brand entirely. Bummer.

Good and accurate, but regularly switches on randomly (which is a problem at night because it lights up).
