Bandai Hobby Star Wars 1/12 Plastic Model BB-8 & R2-D2 "Star Wars"

This is my first time using a modeling kit, so this was a new experience for me.First of all the shipping was much slower than Prime, but it still arrived a lot sooner than the estimated shipping date. I received the item about 2 week after ordering, and I could tell it was sent from Japan so the slow shipping makes sense.The kit comes with instructions in Japanese only, so I had to work off of pictures only. This can be tricky at times, especially because the modeling kit comes with options that you don't necessarily have to do (like using the arms or weapons that R2D2 and BB8 comes with).The kit comes with both stickers and water-decals. Both are relatively easy to apply, and I would suggest using whichever kind you feel more comfortable with.BB8 is definitely made from a higher quality plastic than R2D2, and I think that's because R2D2 is a re-release from the previous kits. The plastic that R2D2 is made of shows a little more flaws (where you snipped the plastic). That said, both models look great after assembly.Some of the pieces of R2D2 didn't stay on very well (like the blue pieces on the top of its head), so I had to use glue for a couple of pieces.Some stickers are very very small, but it is worth the time because it makes a difference including them onto the model.The whole building process took about 4-5 hours. The size of the final product is relatively small (BB8: 2 inches R2D2: 4 inches). I would say this is for ages 13+, as it requires a lot of patience.

This kit is the example that should be used for all model kits. Even if you don't care about these subjects, build this kit. It will change your world. I used glue on some of the parts, but it wasn't necessary. There are sprues with multiple color parts on them. One sprue had clear parts as well as orange and white parts. blew my mind.. get one and build it.

It has been a long time since I have assembled a model kit. Especially a "Snap Tight" style of model. I am highly impressed with the quality of this model kit. Even though the directions were in Japanese (I think) I could still follow the very well detailed step by step instructions. Every piece fit perfectly and the fit was tight and strong. I purchased some model glue just in case and I did not even use it! I opted to leave BB-8 as is since I already have a "dirty" version of him with sand and grime. I did paint R2-D2 with a mud scheme to represent him emerging from the swamp in ESB. The kit came with both types of decals, self adhesive and water decals. For the very small decals I used paint rather than mess with tweezers and patience. I am highly impressed with the quality of this model and the other kits available are on my list for future purchases.

The details on this kit are amazing, but you need patience and little hands to really get the boys put together properly.I'm very happy with this set, but not a easy set to assemble.

I purchased this item as it became my wedding cake topper. It turned out great!. Bandai always makes fairly good model kits. Both R2 and BB-8 come with a lot of different accessories that can become a pain to paint (if you want to be detailed). However if you want the droids to be posed as the product image shows the kit does wonders without having to paint it. Like I said before I used these as a wedding cake topper so I completely customized them along with the paint scheme. Priming and airbrushing is normally how I work with model kits. This kit worked out great and was a fun simple build

Bandai makes the best model kits, extremely detailed and accurate! Except for one of the little hoses/cables on R2D2s leg, I was 99% successful in assembling him.I have fat fingers and this is VERY fine detailed work, but that's my problem not Bandai's problem. I might email Bandai and find out about how to get a replacement part.The little hose broke when I accidentally bumped it after it was already attached.

The finished models are awesome, fine quality and design is very well thought. The product comes from Japan, so took around 3 - 4 weeks to arrive. Arrived in very good condition. Instructions are in Japanese, but the pictures with the instructions are clear enough to easily assemble, even for a 12 year old. I emailed the seller with a question, and got a very quick response. Would certainly recommend this product and seller.

These 2 we're a lot of fun to build. Lots of pieces. Very satisfying build. I highly recommend.
