Amazing, even for tiny ears! Complete sound blocking.
Just ordered my second pair as a backup up in case of loss or damage. I've been using these more frequently than planned because not only are they comfortable, they're incredibly effective. I use them beneath earmuffs at the range (gotta protect the mastoid, too!) and using power tools. They're also great for barking dogs/snoring spouses/deaf relatives/enthusiastically shrieking small children/general annoyances, etc. At night I'll put one in and sleep with the other ear on the pillow so that if there's a real need, I'll wake up but otherwise remain unbothered. Recently I shared a small room for nearly two weeks with a small child and loudly snoring man. Wore these to bed and had no disturbances, a minor miracle! Generally I have huge issues with ear protection not fitting or causing pain after wearing a short while. These not only fit superbly, but they have never caused any discomfort. They can be a bit tricky the first couple times to put in but after that it's a breeze. They're marked right and left and I've found that using the other hand to pull upward on the top of the ear aids insertion by straightening the ear canal. I carry mine wherever I go now, to make life a lot more bearable since I apparently have the hearing of a bobcat and wish to continue that way despite a noisy urban life and much time spent at a shooting range.

Great for motorcycle riding
I bought these to use when riding my motorcycle to work on the freeway. I ride a naked sport bike with a pitiful excuse for a windshield and no further wind protection to speak of, so the wind noise is outrageous without ear protection. Add in my moderately loud exhaust, and I get a headache every time after 20 minutes of riding. I'm a pretty big guy who wears a XXL helmet, but I ordered the medium size of these, and they fit me just fine. I could probably have gone with the large and been OK, but the sizing seems pretty forgiving, and they are relatively flexible. I've only tried them with the plugs in so far, but they drown out a vast majority of the wind noise, and make my ride so much more comfortable. They stay in place well when I'm putting my helmet on, and I haven't had an issue with them slipping out while I'm riding and turning my head. They actually work so well that on my next ride I think I am going to take the end plugs out, because they end up drowning out the sounds from cars around me, which can be a bit dangerous. I'd highly recommend these for any kind of use where you're encountering a lot of constant, droning noise such as wind or exhaust.

Good earplugs
Worked fine and blocked Cessna 208 airplane and motorcycle noise. Comfy to the ears too!

Comfy and secure, hard to beat for the price
I have very small ear canals so I have a hard time getting a lot of these types of plugs to work well, if I do get them inserted they typically are very uncomfortable after only a short time. These are not quite as comfortable as the EP3's with the 2 flange, but they are comfortable, and they have a little higher db rating. The flange seals are fairly small and very soft so they are pretty comfy. They also stay very secure even with a cheek weld on a stock. I've had custom molded plugs before where even they would loose their seal to a degree once I had my head on a stock. I've had the ones with the filters/caps you can remove to hear better, but I've found the little caps so hard to remove that half of the time they take the whole filter unit with and/or then I can't get them closed so I like these that have a higher db rating. If you do find yourself getting ear irritation people who wear hearing aids often use an ear gel when inserting their hearing aids and it works with ear plugs too, not only does it help with irritation, but the gel also provides a better seal. It would be great if they could approach 30+ db but that would probably require a more dense material that would not be as comfortable. Overall these are a great low cost ear plug that's quick to put in, take out, and comfortable with pretty good protection.

My Husband Was Not Impressed!
I bought a pair of these SureFire EP5 Sonic Defenders Max Full-Block Earplugs, triple flanged design, reusable for my Husband, in the size medium, color orange, 26dB. My Husband uses a lot of different Earplugs, Earmuffs, and other Hearing Protection. He has tried using these 26dB, SureFire EP5 Sonic Defenders several times now, but he really does not like these at all. For one, he said these are NOT any good if used by themselves, for shooting ANY shotguns! He shoots 12 gauge, 20 gauge and occasionally, his old .410-bore shotgun. For the rest of our guns, these again are a BIG NO NO, if only used by themselves, except they are OK for the .22 rifles. My husband is a retired auto & small engine mechanic. He still does a lot of machine work in his shop. He said these 26dB Earplugs are also NOT protective enough to use by themselves, at least for him, in his shop. These 26dB Earplugs are OK to use for the lawn mower, weed whacker and for various smaller chainsaws. Also, my Husband said these 26dB Earplugs work fairly well when he has to trim his dog's nails because she always starts yipping and griping like you are killing her as soon as she sees the nail clippers! (My dog is a good boy and he never makes a peep when I do his nails. Hummm... ;) As far as comfort: My husband said these actually bother his ears a bit and don't stay in too well. Maybe he need the small size? And, maybe that is why they are not working so well for him? He has a ton of different ear plug and ear muffs. even the small sized auto noise cancelling plugs, so he should know if these are good plugs or not. With him, he just thinks that a 26dB rating is too low and is a waste of money for earplugs. Anyway, the next time I buy any sort of hearing protection, I will be sure to buy ones with a much higher Noise Reduction Rating than just the 26dB.

Purchased for a gun range after the ep3s were awful and just didn't block out anything. These ep5s are really decent but still not ideal compared to the same NRR in earmuffs. They're suited more for constant noise from construction and similar (what they're intended for) Still more than happy with the product if only for the colors and look! ... And the price point is awesome for what they do!

Super :)

I am a historical re-enactor and I shoot live firing Black Powder muskets, pistols and Cannons. These weapons are very Loud and without protection, your hearing is at great risk But using the surefire ear protectors my hearing is fully protected and personally, I think these are brilliant and have persuaded others to buy as well.
