Review: Good value, nice looking. - I’ve been buying grommets for years, for various DIY projects at home. I chose these metal units for use in visible places. I had a little trouble getting the inner cover off. Usually easy, but this one has tabs that slip under other tabs to hold it in place. Turn it upside down and you’ll see it requires twisting to separate them. Then it pops out easily. Each arrived wrapped in plastic in a small cardstock box, , both in a plastic zip bag. There was no damage, and they feel quite substantial in my hand. What remains to be seen as how accurately they will fit the 2-inch hole size specified. Too small and you can always enlarge. But larger than the width of the grommet’s top will be a problem. If your hole is only slightly oversized, you can improvise a spacer and still use the grommet. Possibly cardboard strips, or you can wrap electrical tape around the part that sits in the hole until it’s snug. I recommend you buy or borrow a 2-inch hole saw. If you think you’ll be doing a lot of home improvement projects in the future, consider a set. Hole saws come in a range of prices and there’s no need to spend big money for occasional use. Of course, you could try to make do without the hole saw, but this would be a mistake. It will be difficult to get a clean hole without it. I suggest you start drilling from the bottom side, until the bit is just high enough to break through the top. Then put the arbor bit into the same hole and continue drilling from the top. (You may first have to drill a small pilot hole from the top to mark the correct spot.) Make sure the saw is exactly perpendicular! This method will help you avoid ugly tear outs on your visible surface, which will leave you with pesky repairs, the worst possible outcome when drilling for a grommet. You may need to limit dust build up in the cut by backing out the saw as you go to blow out the dust. Caution: the saw will be hot! To mount on a drill, a hole saw needs an arbor assembly. Avoid hole saws that come as split circles meant to be slipped into a channel on the arbor assembly and tightened. I once used this type with bad results. That’s why it’s cheap. Get solid circles! I do recommend these grommets. They are of solid quality, nice looking, and offer multiple colors. A good value. Perfect for highly visible locations like desks and tables. And just one more tip: the 4 sets of 3 bumps on the bottom ring are meant to snug up the ring. You may need to persuade it into the hole to accommodate. This doesn’t mean your hole is too small. I haven’t used the product linked below, but it illustrates what I’m talking about for DIY newbies. It includes the arbor (though some reviewers say it doesn’t.) https://www.desertcart.com/LENOX-Tools-Bi-Metal-Arbored-Technology/dp/B004YK8DMY/ref=sr_1_18?dchild=1&keywords=hole+saw+arbor&qid=1626577143&sr=8-18
Review: Very nice grommet with cover - I am a wheelchair user in traditional desks don't work well for me. I bought a nice small conference table on desertcart and install holes to run cabling for my computer. These worked great and look clean and professional. Now my desk has everything I need on top, and the computer and surge protectors underneath. The grommet itself is large, which is necessary to put power plugs down through the hole. After the ends are through, you can snap the grommet cover in place. The cover has a gap with a rubber insert. If you're putting two or three thin wires, the rubber insert works well and keeps them from moving. I have lots of wires so I removed the rubber insert and I have eight cables running through it without a problem. Very versatile. Pro tip: If you use two grommets You can run wires down and back up. I use them for my speakers which have to be connected together but then the speaker wire is mostly under the desk rather than on top. With speakers, modem, two monitors and my desertcart echo, I still have no wires on the desktop.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Very nice grommet with cover

I am a wheelchair user in traditional desks don't work well for me. I bought a nice small conference table on Amazon and install holes to run cabling for my computer. These worked great and look clean and professional. Now my desk has everything I need on top, and the computer and surge protectors underneath. The grommet itself is large, which is necessary to put power plugs down through the hole. After the ends are through, you can snap the grommet cover in place. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Several steps above any plastic grommet with very nice result

Got these for my custom entertainment center in order to route cables in and out the lower cabinets. I'm routing 1 power cord, 1 RCA, 1 14-gauge speaker cable and 1 thin FM antenna cable. Approximately 1 inch stem size for all. Installing with a 2-1/8" bit leaves them dancing a little too much (masking tape can tighten them, but). A 2 inch bit is too tight and I wanted to be able to remove at will. In the end, I used the 2 inch bit and lightly enlarged the hole with a thick drill bit at the same time tapering the top wider than the bottom part. Finished by lightly hammering (with a rubber mallet and cloth) the last 1/32 of an inch. Good fit, the lid rotates open easy and they look great. Wasn't sure if brass or copper will work better, so I got both. Copper did it for me. The little neoprene insert can be cut on the inside portion (the portion that sits on the metal lid) to allow to push in cables, whilst still using it, since it adds a touch of finishing. I tested pushing them out from underneath after installation and it was relatively easy. Just in case I ever have to.
