## Overview

TotalBoat TotalFair is a premium, lightweight two-part marine epoxy fairing compound designed for high-strength, waterproof repairs on boats and other surfaces. Perfect for professional-quality dents, gouges, and surface fairing above or below the waterline.

## Description

Next time you get a dent or ding in your boat, don't go to the boatyard, fix it yourself with TotalBoat TotalFair epoxy fairing compound. This lightweight two-part premium marine epoxy putty is ideal for fairing, filling, and shaping, making it the perfect total boat fairing compound for repairs all over your boat. Because TotalFair bonds strongly and has a high tolerance for flexing without cracking, it's ideal for hulls, decks, keels, topsides and more. It's also great for fixing dings and dents on your car, motorcycle, or rv. This waterproof marine fairing compound can be used above or below the waterline on fiberglass, aluminum, steel, wood and cast iron. TotalFair has a simple 1 to 1 mix ratio and changes to a green color when you mix the blue and yellow components for 3-5 minutes. Its thick, creamy consistency makes this fiberglass fairing compound easy to spread, and helps it hold its shape on vertical and overhead surfaces. If you're fairing a large gouge, we recommend a 6 to 1 width to depth ratio per application. For deep/narrow areas that exceed 6 to 1, you'll need to apply TotalFair in stages, building depth with each application. At 80°F, TotalFair is ready to sand in just 3 hours to a smooth, pinhole-free surface. Be sure to wear protective gloves when mixing, and a proper respirator when sanding cured TotalFair. Do not apply gelcoat directly on cured TotalFair or the gelcoat will not cure properly. Apply TotalBoat 2-Part Epoxy Primer or TotalBoat TotalProtect Barrier Coat before applying gelcoat. Compare TotalFair to two-part epoxy putty products such as Interlux Watertite Epoxy Filler, Awlgrip Awlfair, System Three Quikfair, 3M premium marine filler, Pro Set, 4100 and Pettit EZ Fair. TotalFair epoxy filler is also stronger and more waterproof than a vinylester or polyester fairing compound. Store at 60-90°F. All TotalBoat products are developed for boaters, by boaters to provide great value and great results. 100% made in the USA.

Review: Great fairing compound! Easy to use and easy to sand but tough enough for decks and cockpits. - I have used this on multiple boats. First time application didn't work well, but that is on me as I didn't properly prep the surface before application. All other applications have gone great. This sands easy and fills where needed. Make sure you mix it well so that the color is uniform green! Otherwise it will not achieve maximum cure and hardness.
Review: Makes a nice job, easy to apply and sand - First let me say that I've never done fiberglass repair before buying this product. An accident resulted in a large crack that separated a section of fiberglass on our RV. After getting the fiberglass itself put back together from building it back up from the back side, I needed something easy to sand and paint for filling the crack on the visible side. This was what I decided to go with because of what appeared to be an easy to understand mixing and application process. The instructions seemed almost too simple - just mix it one to one and it's ready to use when it's green. It was so easy to mix and apply that I was honestly surprised. Sanding was easy as well, and it shaped up very nicely. It accepted the primer perfectly and made for a successful repair job. It has been six months since doing that project, and it still looks great with no signs of cracking. The RV repair shop who helped me with the mechanical damage from the accident couldn't believe that I actually repaired the fiberglass damage myself, lol. So anyway, while I can't recommend taking on a major repair project with no experience or professional supervision other than a couple of YouTube videos - that's exactly what I did, and this product is a big part of why I was able to do it. I recommend it 100%.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: If you fill in holes can you rescrew into it?**
A: Yup though Totalfair is meant as a sandable filler more than a stronger epoxy gap filler. If you want to fill holes and then screw back into them, you'd be better off using products such as TotalBoat Thixo Flex or TotalBoat FlexEpox or simply Thixo. Those products would be stronger if you plan to drill a pilot hole and then fasten into them but they are not as sandable as TotalFair.

**Q: Can you apply more to already cured coats without sanding in between?**
A: Should be sanded if the coats are cured.

**Q: Can this be applied over marine oil based paint if I 80 grit it? Basically to smooth out the surface of painted wood.**
A: Thank you for reaching out. The difference in hardness may be an issue, I typically do not recommend it.

**Q: can you fiberglass over total fair without painting it?**
A: The rule is that you can apply epoxy to fiberglass but not fiberglass to epoxy, so whatever you're doing try to follow that rule. Applying paint to it really depends on what the application is if it's going in water then you really should go ahead and seal it up with some kind of base epoxy or 2K paint

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Spreads like butter, dries like stone!
*by J***E on December 17, 2020*

Used this compound to repair damaged fiberglass on an RV. Seemed worth a shot, and I'll say this I'd never go about it another way in the future! Holds like a champ, hardens like a rock. Be sure to carefully sand and clean your area quite a ways away from the damaged space. It will harden even in thicker spots, but it says not to over do it. It does start to get think after a few minutes even in cooler temps, I assume you can combat that by reduced hardener (not much though). Mixes easy, spreads a bit like bondo but seems easier to smooth out. Needs a wide tool to really get it smooth, and you just plan have to plan on sanding at least some because you'll never get it perfect before it starts to get stiff (unless your a professional cake decorator)! Overall, great product that probably has way more uses than the name and target market. No idea how it works on boats, but if my experience is any example I'm sure you can't go wrong.
