It does what the one it replaced did not.
Cheap and after 50 or so switches between 2wd & 4wd it still works. I figured that's more than it normally would do in 5+ years for me anyways. I just thought it would be fun to sit in the garage and go back and forth and if it made it past 30 I'd call it good. I quit counting after 50.

Worked pretty well- seemed a bit cheaper quality than original. Haven fully tested it in snow but it works in the summer.

Perfect fit for 1998 Silverado 5.0L GMT400 with manual 4wd lever. Pro Tip: There's two versions for this generation of trucks. Some have a plug, some a pig-tail. Crawl under and check before you order the part. I took a close look at a dozen trucks in the junkyard and for some reason it's 50/50 which style for the same year. Amazon doesn't differentiate between the two styles and it was a real pain when I ordered the wrong style the first time. Also, It's a good time to check your differential fluid level. When you pull the old part out, it should be wet. with differential lube. If it's dry, chances are that's why the part failed in the fist place because the fork it presses against is dry and sticking. UPDATE: actuator does not work in cold weather. Any temperature below freezing, 4wd will not engage. When the weather warms up, all of a sudden, I hear it engage. I do not recommend this brand!
