I walk on them with bare feet all the time, sometimes wet. The texture on the top helps keep you from slipping. If they were to get covered with some kind of slime, now that would be different...

Can you put these together next to eachother and not have and cracks or grass/weeds grow through?

You can put then next to each other, but there will be small cracks. You would need to put a cloth weed barrier underneath them to keep grass/weeds from growing through the cracks...
