It creates high heat to boil water quickly, yet allows a tiny simmer to keep food warm, and everything between. I have used it in temps down high 30's, and it performed well. The size is perfect for ultralight backpackers or an emergency bag,but it is now my go-to stove for car camping intead of a big stove. Simple is good and easy when packing and cooking at the campground.The Coleman Exponent F1 is best used with pots around 4" in diamter or larger for stability. It is not designed for trail or camp-cups -- too small to sit on the stand.Do not be concerned that there is no igniter -- you will likely have firestarting implement(s) with you (lighter, match, magnesium stick, etc.). These are much more reliable, IMO, than an igniter, and keep costs and stove maintenance minimal.The price is exceptional. This stove will fit in any cook pot or a small pocket.
