Review: An Adult's Review - Something I noticed while reading the reviews of this is that almost nobody bought it for themselves. Either it was a gift for a kid, or someone's mom or dad bought it, or whatever. I mean, that's awesome, but there are another group of people like me-- adults that are getting into piano and aren't interested in buying lessons. This review is for that purpose, to illustrate to any other adults out there if this is merely a child's toy or if it can be a functional adult keyboard. So, does it work as a functional keyboard? Keep in mind my family has owned multiple pianos, including white grands, traditional pianos, and electric keyboards. I'm an avid listener of piano music, and have done extensive research of this topic. I took years of piano lessons when I was a kid, but I'm ADD, so I HATED it. I got so bored with the endless practice and struggled to read all the music, so eventually I quit. The answer to my original question (an adult) is YES, this works! I'll go over each part that I found notable. First, the important part-- the keys. The keys themselves were a bit of a disappointment. They're non-weighted, which I knew from the start, but I didn't expect them to feel quite so light. It feels more like a toy than the other keyboards I've played on. They have a funky feeling to them. I'm not a huge fan of them. If I play too vigorously, I might break it. It's immediately obvious that it's not a traditional keyboard. I got used to the unusual feel after about fifteen minutes of tooling around, and now it doesn't bother me. Second, the frame-- how does it look? How does it feel? Compared to other electric keyboards like this, it looks rather professional and nice. It's on par with others that I've come across as far as quality, but it looks more modern as far as aesthetics. It looks like something a music student would have instead of just something a parent bought for their kid to play with instead of a babysitter. I found the music stand to work very well for holding my device of choice (Iphone Six) while playing. Third, connectivity. They have their own app. True to their word, they have a ton of music available! Annoyingly, it doesn't remove songs that require an 88 key piano from the search results. I think it's a sales ploy to slowly convince people to buy the much more expensive full piano. At least they tell you before you buy something that it won't be compatible. I've read a couple of other people complaining about this as well, but I tried a few that required the full piano (such as the hard version of Scott Joplin's the Entertainer). Although a message warning about compatibility--you CAN play a lot of the full keyboard songs on it. Sure, there might be a note in there somewhere that requires a higher or lower octave, but it's quite possible to learn a full keyboard song on the shorter one. It'll still illuminate the notes in the right order and right location. If you want to see what I mean, look up Scott Joplin's the Entertainer and play it (the hard one, not the easy one). Another interesting thing is that when you plug your device into the keyboard, it actually charges it. Pretty handy. The speakers. They're pretty good, but I honestly expected more. I have a 7.2 surround sound in my house, and I plugged it into that and it sounds loads better. A brief note about this-- the manual led me astray. The keyboard has a aux out port and my stereo an aux in port, but you don't connect them. If you do, nothing will play out of your speakers of the stereo except static and the keyboard will still make all the sound. To test, I plugged my phone into the stereo and it worked fine. Something is wrong with my keyboard. The only way I was able to do it was to plug my aux cord into the headphone port and then into the aux input of my stereo, effectively tricking it. A notable drawback-- this thing's charger is tiny. I have a short desk that I play it on, and the charger barely goes across the desk. It's my biggest complaint, hands down. Make sure that your station will be near an outlet, or that you have batteries. I haven't tried it without the power cord, but I heard that you can use it with batteries. Can't vouch for that. How do the lights work? Excellently. It's an unbelievably handy feature. It feels like a game. How accurately and quickly can you press the keys? I felt a huge amount of pride, and in a funny way, it's much more supportive than a piano teacher. It doesn't lose patience if you don't get it right, and you can go as slowly as you want. Like I say, I've tried lessons. This is my preference. If you're terrible at first, you don't feel cringy or embarrassed. It's just you and it! Can this be used as a child's toy or learning tool? Of course. I'm sure it can. But does it fit the standards of an adult with musical experience? Absolutely. I can happily recommend it. It's also a heck of a lot less expensive than trying to pay a teacher, and you don't need to learn to read music. You can memorize the songs and you'll be fine if you want to. I'm sure that I will find a cheap piano on Craigslist somewhere to play because the speakers aren't that awesome, but in the meantime, I will learn on it. I think the most effective way to use this, at least from my experience, is to learn on it and transfer that knowledge to a traditional keyboard with better sound quality and a larger number of keys. I'm not (repeat, not) returning it, so don't mishear me. This isn't an accident, or a bad purchase. I'm not trying to replace it with another piano. This is an invaluable tool, and in the long and short run, you will not regret your purchase. It'll reignite that spark in you to learn and play either for the first time or as a continuation of your playing. Either way, awesome tool, awesome purchase. If you look into a teacher, you'll looking at $150 a month easily (not to mention driving time and gas). It's a simple equation-- buy this and have a near limitless amount of hours of teaching for years if you take good care of it, or have two months of traditional teaching and have to find a keyboard somewhere. It's your choice. For me, it's clear. I'll take the ONE Light Keyboard. Play it wherever and whenever. How many piano teachers can you call when you're bored at 1 am to come help you learn? I'd recommend buying it, but if you do or you don't, you're here for a reason. You want to further your career at playing this amazing instrument. Just for this, you're amazing. I've tried to help you by telling you my thoughts. Find what you love. Find the keyboard and setting you love. In the end, all that matters it that you're comfortable. Don't give up. Don't get frustrated. If one thing doesn't work for you, switch. Don't just give up like I did. Trust me, in the end you'll regret it. I wish you all the best of luck. Music is one of the most personal and beautiful things in this world. You CAN do it. It doesn't matter how good you are. What matters is that you are happy. This piano has reinvigorated this dream in me. For this, I cannot thank the ONE Music Group enough. Stay focused. Don't let anyone tell you no. That's it. That's the end of my review. I hope it helped someone. I'm going to go play here in a minute. Mysterious reader, best of luck. :)
Review: Awesome product for beginners - I grew up taking piano lessons. I really wish The One Smart Piano was around when I was learning. The integration of the app with the keyboard is truly the best system I have seen and really makes it easy to learn how to play. This keyboard lights up as you move through the music and actually waits until you hit the right key before you move on. The app also allows for different styles of learning; one is a game where you play the notes (think guitar hero with the keyboard). Another way to learn is with more traditional sheet music. With the app, you can also select the level and adjust the speed of songs. The one downside to this keyboard is that it is only 61 keys, so not the full 88-keys of a piano. 61 keys is still great for learning and practicing (and the shorter keyboard makes it a bit more portable for storing). I would recommend it for levels from beginner to intermediate for all ages. I am writing this review as part of a contest.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Learn piano with wack-a-mole/Simon style gaming.
*by E***N on February 19, 2016*

This thing is more like a game then learning. The keys light up and wait for you to get it right before moving on. This allows you to work on the parts you know at speed and slow through the parts you are struggling on. Works with iPhone/Pad even the mini, also android. There are included Lightning and micro usb cables for connecting your devices. These are not the same cables that come with your phone/tablet. The connect to the keyboard with USB "B" plug. The games and drills are fun and you can purchase songs to expand your library. Has a foot pedal jack and a mic jack so that you can sing along through the integrated speakers. Also has a headphone jack for when you need to be quiet. I look at this and wonder how this hadn't come out till 2015.
