Best small microwave!
We needed a small microwave when we moved into a small condo with very little counter space. Most of the reviews said this was the perfect solution and it is. It takes up very little room, plus it fits easily into a corner. It has a rotating glass tray that holds a standard size dinner plate. It's tall enough to fit a 16 ounce mug with room to spare, but it is shorter than many standard microwaves. It has digital controls that are very simple but work just fine. We're older and actually really appreciate that simplicity. Some things take longer to cook but not by much. If you want all the bells and whistles and to be able to zap things quickly, this is not the microwave for you. On the other hand, if you need a smaller microwave that is easy to use and very sturdy I definitely recommend this one. We love it!

Very, very happy with this.
I got this microwave yesterday and I've been smiling about it ever since. I just love how it looks in the corner of my kitchen. The only negative to me is that it's kind of expensive for a small microwave, but what was the last thing you bought for your kitchen that just made you happy? Since the only con I can think of is the price, I'll just run through the pros as I see them. 1. It's unique. Every other microwave I've ever seen (with the exception of the Sharp Half-Pint) looks pretty much the same: a horizontal rectangle with a door and a keypad control panel to the right. The bottom controls and lack of numeric pad make this thing look entirely different, and in a good way. (Don't worry about the lack of a keypad, the controls are a no-brainer.) When you unbox it and see the rounded back, you know you've bought something different from the norm. 2. It's big inside. Bigger than my old GE compact for round things, and I've just never had the urge to throw a 9x13 pan in my microwave. (I have yet to try it with popcorn, manual says limit it to the 1.75 ounce size.) 3. It's powerful. 1:30 on high heats up a cup of water better than my old one. Good enough for me. 4. The LED display is blue. Very cool, in my opinion. 5. The interior light goes on when you open the door. Some small microwaves only light up while you're cooking. 6. You can use the timer and cook simultaneously. Pretty standard, but some don't. Also, you can adjust the timer and the cook time on the fly by hitting + or -, no need to stop and reset. And you can toggle between the timer and the clock if you want. 7. No door release button. You just grab the recessed edge of the door and pull. And it feels solid when you shut it. 8. The reminder tone shuts off. Yes, it reminds you when you forget to pull something out, but it shuts up after three reminders and reverts to the clock. (I swear my old microwave displayed "End" most of the time.) 9. Limited features. The only "special" features are defrost, reheat, popcorn, and power level (100%, 75%, 50%, 25%, and the power-saving 0%). I've never used anything more. 10. I'm running out of ideas, but to make a nice round 10, I'll point out that the door is about two inches thick with a space between an inner and outer window. This gives it a kind of "window-box" look that I like a lot. Hope this helps convince everybody to pull the trigger and buy this microwave. You won't regret it! NOTE: The display panel comes covered in a clear plastic film that is pretty easy to miss when you're unpacking. I didn't see it and was highly alarmed after a couple of days when the start button started to look and feel cracked! Further investigation revealed the protective film, which easily peeled off to reveal a pristine panel underneath.

Working on my third unit ***AVOID***
I want to start by saying I have been a faithful Whirlpool customer for a long time. I have found their products reliable and economical. BUT I am now working on my third unit of this model...I should have my head examined for not returning for a refund. First unit did not appear to heat at full power but did not notice until after I had thrown away the box. Ordered a second unit intending to ship the first unit back in the second unit's box. Pulled out the second unit and packed up the first unit in its box. Plugged in the second unit and it was totally dead! Unpacked the first unit and packed up the second unit and sent it back. The first unit has a new issue where it the light comes on and the turntable rotates when the door is closed (but does not microwave) so I leave the door cracked open. Now working with Whirlpool customer service to get a third unit. They said it would be up to two weeks before they would have a replacement unit that their tech would install. Well its been a month and I have heard nothing. I would give this a minus-5 star if I could! AVOID AVOID AVOID

Small but Effective
I bought this little microwave 2-1/2 years ago. Predominantly, I use it to heat up my dog's food: 12 seconds in the morning and 12 seconds at night. However, the microwave time units are 30 seconds, so I stand in front of it until it counts down from 30 to 18 (30-18=12!), then whip the door open. I've also used it to microwave riced cauliflower. Since it's only 750 watts, it takes nearly twice as long as the recipes suggest. It's a bit light in the body, so when I open the door the force of it sometimes pulls the oven out of its position on the counter top (don't worry - I'm talking a couple of inches, not a couple of feet here). The deck of the oven is higher compared to most other microwave ovens, so I've managed to nick the heck out of the glass turntable by misjudging the height and smashing containers against it. So why four stars? Because it's TINY and CUTE - like a puppy! It uses minimal counter space. It looks fabulous. It works steadily, day in and day out. Though slower than a larger microwave, it does heat the food I've prepared in it evenly. And it can make microwave popcorn without scorching and without leaving behind an inordinate amount of unpopped kernels. If you cook five course meals in your microwave, this oven isn't for you. If waiting one extra minute to reheat your coffee would cause you agony, this oven isn't for you. Though I don't love this oven with all of my heart and soul, when it goes to appliance Heaven I shall happily purchase another.

Petite but powerful...
This is an awesome microwave for a small kitchen space. My small apartment has, oh, maybe 3 x 2 foot counter. That's it. I didn't want one of those mondo-brick black microwaves hogging up the space and making it look messy. When I first opened this critter in my office where I had it shipped, it looked kinda bigger than I imagined and I thought they could make it smaller with the thick sides. But when I got it home, it worked perfectly with the space. It looks pretty cute too! Looks like an old iMac. :-) I was prepared to sacrifice power for this cuteness factor, but I definitely haven't felt that's the case. It heats just as quickly as the regular sized 1.5 cf microwave I used to have. Actually I think it's better! It heats a huge cup of coffee to nice and piping in 2 min or a bowl of brown rice and lentils from the fridge to have-to-cool-down-hot in about the same. All the package directions for frozen foods are right on par. The only negative is that you have to press the + button up to set the temp, but it's not enough of an inconvenience to detract from the pluses. As far as the options for small footprints, this is definitely the best and a novelty to boot!

Perfect for small kitchens!
I recently moved into a house with a super small kitchen. The only spot for our old beast of a microwave was on top of the refrigerator, but I was afraid of dumping hot liquids on my face as I pulled them out. I looked for other options and found this little gem. It's really meant to live in a corner and that's where we've put ours. The rounded back makes it fit nice and snug in the corner and allows the microwave to have a roomy interior and not eat up the entire corner. I've put a glass pie plate in with no problem. We use Corelle dinnerware and the large dinner plates leave room to spare. The power level and cooking times are as expected. I've used a microwave of this wattage before. It doesn't heat as fast as our old beast, but it works just fine. Boils a mug of water in 2:30. Very quiet and easy to operate. Unique look to it. People think it's a little tv. Overall, I love it!

A compact, slightly under-powered microwave that won't fit taller items
Like everyone else, I got it for it's compact size, and it does fit into a corner great. I've reclaimed a lot of counter space, and I am happy about that. The door is elevated about 3 inches off the counter, so as an added plus, it is not necessary to clean the counter in front of it to get the door open (assuming the items in front of it are fairly low). My previous microwave was an 1100 watt Kenmore, and this does take longer to heat up food. I used to be able to microwave water for tea in 1 min 30 sec, now it is 2 min 15 sec with this microwave. It's an okay trade-off, given it's compact size. With my other microwave, I often had to power it down to a lower setting to avoid over-steaming my food. This one I more often leave at full power. While it is a very TALL microwave, (make sure you have vertical room for it) the interior height is lower than the norm. Travel mugs and 8 oz. baby bottles will not fit into it. There are two ways to add time - hitting start adds 30 seconds, hitting the + button adds time in 5 sec increments, but after you get past 1 min it ads time more quickly, so it's okay. The power settings are 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100% (push the power button to cycle through). All in all, I am happy with the purchase. I deducted one star for the fact for it's lower power, and another for the fact that taller items won't fit.

OMG! This thing is a knockout!!
We've had the big 'ol "over-the-range massive GE microwave that was powerful enough to cook a buffalo and was big enough to fit the beast inside but, when we redesigned our kitchen and put in a new pro-style stove and an elegant curved glass vent over it, that oversized radar box had to go! But what to get to replace it? Looked at all the allegedly compact countertop units and rejected every one of them -- "compact" they were not! And then we found this Whirlpool TV set, er, I mean microwave! Whomever designed this deserves a Nobel Prize for peace, physics and common sense!! It looks just like a cute little old school TV set. Imagine that! A cute microwave oven! But what's even better is how this thing disappears right into the corner of our new countertop. Somehow they figured out how to use the corner to their design advantage and here's the best: you can place a full-size 11" dinner plate inside! How'd they do that??!! Negatives? Nothing terrible. Yes, it's only 750 watts vs the 1200 of our former "beast-master" machine but, as another reviewer said, just 'cause it fits a turkey and has the power to cook it doesn't mean ya should!! We use our microwave for vegetables, eggs, liquids, popcorn -- all of which the new cute Whirlpool TV/microwave thingee will do just fine. Takes an extra 15-30 seconds because of the lower power. That just gives me a little extra time to stare at this awesome box and marvel at how truly cool it is. And speaking of boxes, this is serious out-of-the-box thinking about appliances and how they fit into our lifestyles. Major kudos to Whirlpool for taking the initiative to see things a little different. Steve Jobs would have loved this microwave -- form and style perfectly matched with function. It's time for you other lazy manufacturers to up your game. Bottom line? Outstanding microwave!

Happy cook!
We purchased this for our son when he moved in to his current apartment. Counter space is limited - this unit fits neatly into the corner on the counter and indeed does economize on space. Even though the size of the items/dishes that go into the unit may have to be smaller, it looks and works great - perfect for a single person or a couple!!

Such a great package, it fits well under my cabinets and leaves lots of room. The curved back allows it to be tucked in the corner. One of the impressive features is the defrost feature that works so well! Everyone that visit's us loves the design and want to buy one. Only downside its it's expensive for what it is. I guess you pay for the space saving.

Compact
Just the right size. I keep it in a cupboard. Just used for reheating, defrosting and popcorn. Holds a regular size dinner plate.
