How bad does this flake off? Some of the very popular ones flakes so bad.

My experience is different than the other answers on here, so I’ll chime in even though I’m responding a year after the original question.

For me, this flaked enough to made my eyes water.  I thought it was allergies until I got an illuminated 10x magnifying mirror, started noticing all of the tiny, tiny flakes, and connected my watering eyes to the mascara.  I love my Burt’s Bees lip balm & eyeliner, so I reordered in case it was just drying out, but I had flakes even with the new tube.

Do I need to wash it off like regular mascaras?

It comes off easily with face cleanser. I personally do not like this mascara and I used all Burts Bees products. I found it doesn't apply well, is watery and clumps. Sorry Burt!

Does it run in warm weather and sting if it gets in your eyes!?

I've had no problems with running, but it might depending on the humidity or your sweat level. As for stinging,  there has been an instance or two of my amazingly random acts of klutziness that have managed to cause some to get in my eye (yay me.) It is annoying because it doesn't belong on my eyeball, but no true stinging or pain. My eyes are super sensitive to most mascara, but this kind has not caused issues like most would.
