I'm an engineer and if I'm struggling to get it to work, not sure mum will. Incidentally, I know someone who has the previous version and it is the same, wish I'd known that before I'd bought mine. Bought mine due to an issue with my right bicep, can no long use a manual one, had an electric one decades ago and it was great, this is just not that good. **Q: What is the guarantee on this can opener** A: Dear Taylor, I have had it for over 1 and 1/2 year and it still function very well. I have bought it for my spouse has a severe disability. However, it has also: 1) a magnet which will catch the tins' lids and also 2) a bottle opener at its base. I find it very practical. Please be mindful though that when the tin opener has almost reached its finishing circle you have to hold the tin at its bottom with the palm of your hand so that you can then detach the magnet first b4 releasing the opened tin. This is to avoid an eventual spillage on the kitchen worktop (especially oily tins - tuna, sardines ect). I hope you find this useful even though I haven't answered to the direct question in regards of the warranty but I guess being a Kenwood (I didn't bother to check the small print) item it will have for sure the manufacturer warranty for at the least 1 year.
