DEWALT DW CLIPBOARD

I am a class A truck driver for FedEx freight. I love this clip board. I can put all my extra tags and pens and paperwork inside and all my driver paper work on the outside clip. The outside clip is very strong. Have had it for about 7 months .. still haven’t messed with the light on outside

DEWALT Store: DeWALT TSTAK Compatible Clipboard, Front Light & Clip, Clip & Storage Organizer Inside This product (DeWALT DWST17818) is the DeWALT TSTAK-compatible clipboard made for personal or business use. The clipboard is made of “DeWALT Yellow” polypropylene polymer material and it has black elastomer over-molding placed upon the four corners of the product with an additional section placed along the hinged spine of the clipboard. The purpose of the elastomer over-molding is to prevent damage should the clipboard be dropped. The clipboard employs a two-piece construction, utilizes true hinges, and the hinges are assembled with steel hinge pins. The clipboard may only be opened 180°. The two sides are latched together with an “Auto-Latch” assembly for easy one-handed operation. On the front surface of the clipboard is located a six element LED light and spring clip assembly. The LED light is part of the flip-up cover built into the assembly. The cover may be adjusted to the desired angle for the best illumination of the paperwork secured on the clipboard front cover. The LED light is turned on and off with a pushbutton on the top side of the assembly. The LED light is powered by a single AA-size 1.5V alkaline chemistry battery (supplied) which is installed on the inside of the front of the clipboard under a sliding cover. The spring clip assembly is designed to hold papers securely to the front surface of the clipboard using the polymer pieces molded onto the corners of the spring clip. The inside of the clipboard has another spring clip located on the rear section for holding paperwork in place. On the inside of the front panel is located a ballistic nylon organizer pouch. This pouch has a fairly large, zippered section along with a mesh section for the storage of writing instruments and such, and six individual sections for holding business card sized items. The organizer pouch has four metal grommets which fit over four plastic bosses molded into the rear of the front panel. The organizer pouch is held onto the plastic bosses with four supplied black push pins. The clipboard is designed to be compatible with the DeWALT TSTAK system and may be attached to a toolbox stack as the top item only. The product is provided with a Lifetime Limited Warranty from the manufacturer. I have wanted one of these for a long time but they are often difficult to locate. I even considered buying one from one of the China-based sellers but their prices are insane. I waited and watched and they finally went on sale on Amazon! I am very happy with this product and I am so happy that it works so well with my TSTAK products.

I'm a DeWalt guy through and through. In the evolution to battery powered tools you pretty much have to pick one platform or you'll have to carry around several brands of batts and chargers. Been there, done that. So 10 years ago all of my Makita, Bosch and Paslode tools were sold to make the switch. Being from Wisconsin it would have been to Milwaukee tools if they weren't so RED. Anyway, this is one of the few times DeWalt has disappointed me. The first thing I noticed is how flimsy the plastic is. You can bend this thing all over the place without even trying. I'm sure it's durable enough but it needs to be more rigid. Next is the size. Yes I know it has to be this large for the TSTAK platform but the (mostly worthless) light limits it's versatility in that capacity, as it can only be fastened on top of a box with nothing else fastened to it. Others have said they use this light independently. Really? In my opinion it doesn't even provide enough illumination for the writing surface. Like I was saying, this thing is huge, much larger than a standard writing pad. Its writing surface when closed suffers from the raised armored corners that make it very difficult to use anything but a small scale or rule when drawing. The pouch inside is poorly designed, having no designated pockets for a calculator, a small note pad, reading glasses or writing instruments. If you want to carry around six different business cards it's great (really?). Unless you glue them in, the little plugs that hold the pouch in place pop out easily. The pouch is poorly configured and poorly attached. I'll probably use some hot melt glue to fasten it in place and make some modifications so it's a bit more user friendly but in the end I'm glad to have only spent $25 on this. It'll see some use on jobs but can't see it being a go-to for me. Okay, so now that I've had this clipboard a week and spent hours figuring out what can go where and modifying it for my specific needs, it and I have become friends enough to add two stars to my original opinion. It's still huge but by using its size to my advantage you can tell by the pics it's been set up to comfortably contain a full sized pad of grid paper, reading glasses, a 12" Rapid Rule, iPad 9.7" and a DeWalt Atomic digital laser measurer on the right and on the left a highlighter, Apple compatible pencil and a combo pen/mechanical pencil. The pouch area contains a scratch pad, quick instructions for a construction master calculator (app on my iPad and phone), an 8" transparent ruler graduated in 8ths, a triangle ruler and in the large portion of the pouch a unique target I designed for the DLM. What's not shown is my iPhone (being used to take pics) can lay sideways above the iPad during transport without interfering with the writing instruments on the other side. The only modification made to the outside was cutting a slot in the upper TSTAK catch to accommodate a tape measure belt clip. The TSTAK will still function, but obviously not with a tape clipped in it. Being able to easily and securely carry all these very useful items as a single unit finally justifies this clipboard as a very useful tool that will most likely be EDC on job sites.

Great for putting papers and receipts in so they don’t get lost or destroyed. Cool that it attaches to the other stacking toolboxes. Not that it will be used a lot but nice to have a light on it to illuminate the writing surface. And it looks cool.

Needed something to protect my 16” portable monitor so it wouldn’t get bendy in my backpack. This Dewalt clipboard did the trick! I just needed to pry off the bolted-on clip paper holder from its interior cover with a flathead and hammer. The portable monitor with its outer case/stand fit perfectly in it. The additional pocket sleeve in its front cover fit the monitor’s USB cable snug as well. I would not trust the door to remain locked closed though—the locking mechanism seems flimsy, but that is not what I bought it for. The hard case keeps my large portable monitor protected in my backpack.

Latch closure is flimsy. Writing surface is good overall. Adequate storage capacity. Light weight, durability remains to be seen. Light is actually the coolest part. The main reason I bought this was for the TSTAK compatibility and that is one of the weakest aspects of the clipboard. TSTAK will not securely clip. But my wife loved it so I am keeping it.

Excelente prancheta. Cab bastante folha dentro dela. Pra quem precisa carregar bastante papel, ela é a ideal.

Nice amount of storage inside clipboard. The light is a handy touch as well.

I have been through many clipboard and case style clipboards this is the only one to hold up with me on work sites. I recommend highly.

Prancheta/pasta excelente, tem dois prendedores de folhas dentro e fora dela, o de fora tem uma luz LED para poder visualizar as anotações e desenhos em locais com pouca ou nenhuma iluminação. Tem uma pochete dentro para guardar material de desenho, documentos ... As folhas que estão vendo nas imagens são de tamanho A4, então há como ter uma noção do tamanho dela e uso. Não quis colocar nas fotos, mas também coloco pastas e esquadros da Desenart Trident dentro dela e mais um estojo de compasso. Ela é perfeita para arquitetos, mestre de obras, desenhistas urbanos e todo tipo de profissional que precise tomas notas fora de casa e do escritório. Nota 10, recomendo.
