I recently purchased a replacement HEPA filter for my GermGuardian and didn't realize that it also came with a carbon activated pre-filter, so I also ordered this 4 pack. The quality is the same as the one that came with the GermGuardian branded HEPA filter, although the sizing was a bit different. I do not think I would have a problem fitting this into the GermGuardian, but they are also easily altered simply by cutting them with a scissors. As I had 4 more carbon filters than I needed for a while, I used two of them for another separate air conditioner; I cut the filters to fit and inserted them behind the mesh filter in front of the rear air intake, effectively adding an additional filter where there was none from the factory. As the air conditioner runs 24/7 in the summer, I now had the added benefit of extra air/odor filtration, and the room smelled noticeably crisper. These filters will work for your GermGuardian and are a good value, but be aware they can also be reconfigured for other applications where you might need a carbon filter. I even saw a picture on a website of someone who had attached them to the rear of an oscillating fan to help with filtration! Excellent for multipurpose use.

Right - These are JUST the carbon pre-filters, and they fit perfectly with my 4800 series, come in a neat little resealable plastic bag and cost about a dollar or so less than the other inexpensive ones. The reason I keep purchasing these is that they work - and they fit, and they don't smell weird or do any of the other things some reviewers say other brands/types do. We have both the 5000 Pet Series and the 4800 series, they are different sizes, so make sure to purchase the filters that fit your specific unit, but I've now purchased these a few times and I have yet to be let down. They're even actually nicer than the original GermGuardian pre-filter. Yay!

Great price for my refills for my room air unit in my home they do last a long time filtering the air

The filter is a great way to extend the life of my HEPA filter. Right after the 4th of July I checked the carbon pre-filter on my air purifier. The particulate matter from all the fireworks near my home had really coated the old carbon pre-filter. It was great to be able to quickly change just that bit to extend the life of my HEPA filter. It's sill important to regularly change the actual HEPA filter, but I feel that changing the charcoal pre-filter really does help to extend it for a short time

I was surprised by the small package I received, but the size is exactly as mentioned, that is 4 filters measuring 4.8" x15.75" x 1/8" THICK. The image is deceptive giving the impression that the THICKNESS is about 1/4". NOT SO. The fiber of the filter is dense therefore likely making it a good filter. I have not yet tried it. This said, considering the smallness of the filters, I think it is very expensive.

Don’t buy the custom cut filters for your heat pump - they’re crazy expensive. Just buy this and cut to size. There’s enough here to last me years!
