Pull wires out leaving 12”-14” to work with leaving conduit apx 6” above ground level. Excavate around the conduit apx. 10” deep and 12” in diameter. Use a wood stake to secure the conduit vertical. Lower Gard-in-Post over conduit so that the stabilizer arms are 2” below ground level. Pour in QuickCrete mixing with water and fill hole to ground level making sure the post is vertical. Once QuickCrete is set , install receptacle. Use this method only if this is a permanent installation. **Q: This does not come with a hole in the top like the gp19b-1 gard-n-post. is there any issue in drilling my own 1/2" hole for a light fixture?** A: No problem drilling a hole as long as you seal it so water can’t get in after you set your light. **Q: Can the outlet cover be closed while something is plugged in for complete weatherproofing?** A: Yes. The outlet cover has four sides, is deep enough to accommodate plug yet close completely and has two cut-outs on the bottom for power cords to exit the cover. **Q: Can this post be used to mount a transformer (120v to 12v) and a 120v power outlet on opposite sides?** A: The post is made of a pretty heavy grade plastic. I would imagine it could support a 10lb. Landscape lighting transformer. However this post is short. More in the ground. I filled hole with 40lbs of concrete and pvc for electrical. Post feels solid but a model that is four more inches off the ground would be nice. Overall product seems good. I think PVC will last a lot longer in the Florida sun vs metal. Next I want to find a weatherproof cover to put over it.
