For me, it's this one: the Keychron K1. It's the first keyboard I've run across that ticks all (my) boxes for a writer's board: Bluetooth, low profile blue switches, TKL, backlighting (white for me) and a sturdy aluminum body. This thing feels great - it actually reminds me of the Apple IIc keyboard (orange ALPS) that I loved as a kid. I've tried several mechanical keyboards, switch types and even played with dampeners, but I kept finding that my accuracy suffered and that they were fatiguing - likely due to going back to chiclet boards like my Surface or the Logi Solar throughout the work day. As low-profile mechanical switches started to appear I suspected they would solve my problem and sure enough, once I found the K1, I had precisely the experience I wanted. The K1 was packaged nicely, shipped fast and had no issues but for one of the included spare alt keycaps having a bent post (I just kept the option cap on the right). If you're looking for your perfect board, pop down the keyboard enthusiast rabbit hole until you understand exactly what you really want and then check out Keychron because they probably have it waiting for you. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A beautiful & quiet mechanical keyboard *by S***L on November 21, 2020* Coming from chiclet-key use for many years across various laptops and apple products, I decided to go low profile but still wanted something that also looks great on my desk. The Keychron K1 definitely meets the mark. My previous mechanical keyboard was a Tecware Phantom L with brown switches. It was a decent keyboard but keys/switches kept going bad and I ended up returning it. Hopefully the Keychron will last longer.My only complaint is not about the keyboard, but the shipping as it arrived with a hole in the box and busted up F8 keycap. I reached out to Keychron directly and they sent me a replacement keycap free of charge. Excellent support! Note I use this keyboard primarily for work as a software engineer. I use a membrane HyperX Alloy Core for gaming (which is also a great affordable keyboard).If you're debating switches, I really like the red in terms of comfort and quiet. I do not miss the 'clicky' at all, and it feels much better to type on. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great quality for the money, low profile switches are pretty good *by N***K on November 9, 2021* Overall the keyboard is pretty good, great for general typing and and work. Despite the ultra low profile of the switches the brown switches do have a tactile feedback and there is a good amount of travel, its a good medium between full mechanical switches and scissor switches found on the Logitech MX keyboard. The key caps are pretty good, for not being PBT, you can get PBT low profile choc keycaps but they come as black or white blanks.The lighting is great, very nice bright white, makes the keyboard look very professional, does not have any of those gamer aesthetics at all so it would fit in an office environment perfectly. The ability to switch between cable mode and Bluetooth mode is great. Working from home I can have the cable mode on my main home computer and Bluetooth on my office computer.NO DRIVERS!! I am honestly not a fan of keyboards having drivers and ones that require a driver to function. Everything is hardware based, and the little cheat sheet they give shows all the functions on the keyboard and how to access them.The aluminum housing is great, gives it a very premium feel and has a nice weight to it.There are not many other low profile mechanical keyboards out there, the only other one I know is the Logitech g915 which is pretty pricey, though its choc full of features like rgb, macro functionality, etc. This one is a lot cheaper but has the same premium feel to it.Having cross functionality with Mac OS is also a great touch.The only negative I have is that these choc low profile switches are not the smoothest keys, compared to what the Logitech g915 has.
