The WD 1TB My Passport SSD is compact, durable, and delivers impressive transfer speeds—perfect for backing up files or on-the-go storage.

I had been using a 2T hard drive from the same people but it is not portable, too big & heavy. I decided to go for the benefits of a small & neat SSD especially as I was buying a new PC which has an inbuilt SSD. I keep my old HD fully backed up but switched off. If I did get a wipe-out attach at least a have a "vault" copy. I tried to register the SSD online but it was not recognised. I contacted WD and they tried but failed to register it for me. A few days later they came back and said that they had proof it was a legitimate WD device and they registered it on their records for me. A load of firms would just wash their hands. Quite please with it all - except that the data cable is far too short & it sits too high on the PC. The bonus is that it now has good airflow, as SSD's can really heat up.

Very light, very fast, nice and small, and LOADS of storage space and good price. Only criticism is the length of the data transfer cable - 8in/20 cm with adaptor attached - only of use with a laptop on a desk, I had to buy a much longer cable to use it with my desk top.

I connected the ssd drive to my laptop to use Time Machine, backup software. After TM did the formatting, it was ready for backup. Initially, I had some trouble restarting Time Machine and connecting to ssd so I had to reboot the laptop to get it to work again. However, once it began backing up, it was impressively fast—160 GB in just an hour. The drive did become quite hot during the process, which is a bit concerning. Overall, I'm pleased with its performance, but I'm worried about potential mounting issues or damage due to the heat it generates.

What can I say about this amazing hard drive, it downloads games fast, it runs the games smoothly and it's compact enough so it doesn't get in the way like the big hard drives commonly seen. Very pleased.

We were recommended to purchase a WD 1TB My Passport Portable SSD, External NVMe Solid State Drive, USB-C, up to 1050 MB/s, Works with PC, This we could order off Amazon. This would allow us to automatically back up the required programs each week at a certain time. When it arrived we plugged it in and followed the instructions, to set it up. Unfortunately it did not back up the programs that we were using. However I contacted WD. I had to fill a lot of information on their site before we could get to the problem. (Which I realised why later) After which I was amazed that I had a phone call from them. With his help we cleared everything I had done and started again. The guy was very patience and talked me through how to set it up and more. I checked the day after it was set the backup, which it had He followed it up with an email a few days later to see if all was ok, which it had. I recommend this product and the support which I received was brilliant. Tremendous service/support.

Absolutely Top Notch stuff for the PS5! Whether it be a upgrade from HDD to SSD or straight to SSD, you won't be disappointed as the read and write speeds are amazing as well as the moving speed for games is really short compared to HDD (100GB took like a hour with HDD and with this SSD, it took 20 minutes which is insane to me) I absolutely love the thing and will be with me for the long run

I ordered this Western Digital product, having bought others of good quality made by them. I was very disappointed because it immediately malfunctioned when I tried to format it in Mac-OS journaled, one of the file formats which is best for Macs. Whatever the design of this device, it should have been able to cope with this. I know of no other storage device which cannot manage being formatted in this way. After it failed its formatting, it was no longer recognised and was useless. I don't know if the original FAT32 format is more useful for other applications (I have never used it) and maybe, in hindsight, I should not have tried to re-format the drive, but I do not remember any advice of this type on the description. Next time I will make sure I only buy drives pre-formatted for Macs. Western Digital do make these, and I will stick to them in future.
