5-Year Work Watch update
Overall, one of the best pieces of work gear I have ever invested in, for my line of work. I am a swimming pool technician, a pool guy, and have been for the last 10 years of my life. I work for one of the largest pool maintenance companies in SoCal and am now a Route Manager, overseeing over 800 individual pools. My everyday has and still consists of many different jobs. Cleaning swimming pools, where I am CONSTANTLY submerging my hands in chlorinated and salinated (salt) water, which does have a corrosive and/or oxidative effect on certain metals. Interacting hands-on with different corrosive and oxidizing chemicals, all of which gets on my hands and wrists at some point everyday. Maintaining, cleaning, and repairing various pumps, filters, plumbing, heaters, automation/electrical pool systems, and valves. This frequently places my hands in uncomfortable, tight spaces where I will bang, scrape, and smash my watches against concrete, metal, and other hard materials in the equipment areas I am working in. I have worn this watch every weekday for the last 5 years for this job. I replaced the original rubberized strap for a nylon/cotton blend NATO strap so it would dry quickly and breathe better. The watch face paint has stood up very well considering how rough my job is on it, with what would be considered as understandable wear and tear. And in my opinion, it gives a worked-in quality of character to the watch. The crystal itself has a few MINOR scratches, which I’m surprised hasn’t cracked or been marred even further, given that I have truly had it banged around hard in my line of work. None of these scratches affect the readability of the watch face at all. You actually have to look in an angled reflection to notice them. The lume of the glowing hands and digits are still VERY strong and last a pretty dang long time. I’m in the sun all day long and so the glow lume gets charged like crazy all day, then lasts for hours into the night. I can also say with certainty that I have NEVER had a battery issue, being that it’s an Eco-Drive and it gets a full belly of sun every working day, I’m not surprised at all. I don’t know when it will ever need a power cell replacement, but it's probably going to be a WHILE being that my line of work puts it in a recharging state at all times. Lastly, the steel body of the watch itself is as solid as when it arrived. It does have some scratch marks, but no gouges. And just in the last 6 months or so, a very light showing of rust-colored oxidization has been showing on the inside of the bezels. I’m surprised its taken THIS long to finally show some signs of oxidizing with how often its been scratched and banged, then plunged into salt and chlorine water and exposed to various chemicals. Overall, I am very pleased with the performance and durability of this watch. In a job where I quickly go through footwear, shorts/pants, sunglasses, hats, multitools/knives/handtools, and other pieces of gear, this watch has stood out as the most rugged and long lasting piece of gear I have bought for my job. I have no doubt it will last a further 5 years easily in the exact same conditions, especially if I give a light polishing for any oxidized areas (which I still haven’t yet). Highly recommend this watch for someone looking for a durable timepiece that can take a beating and still look classy and handsome. I also highly recommend switching to a NATO strap for an even more secure retention (watch won't fall off your wrist if one of the strap bars breaks or pops out).

A great watch for divers and non-divers alike!
I bought the all black version of this very same model about a year ago, and it is still working great. However, I've always like the "Pepsi" design, so I went ahead and bought this one as well. These are well built watches, and you get a sense of that when you actually hold it and put it on your wrist. The Eco-Drive movement is just fantastic. Between the Quartz movement and using ambient light to charge the watch is just fantastic. When the Eco-Drive is fully charged, it will last and continue to run for 6 months in complete darkness, so that should give you so peace of mind. This isn't something you have to worry about charging on a regular basis - Citizen has good technology built into their Eco-Drives. I've always liked the looks of Diver watches, and this one doesn't disappoint. The fact that this is also an ISO certified Divers Watch means that you're getting something that is proven to take all that recreational divers can throw at it if you're into that. The display looks crisp and clean through the mineral glass. It wears well on the wrist (and mine isn't particularly big), and the strap can be swapped out for something else but it works well enough (you will need some 'breaking-in' time with it).

Classic Pepsi Look 🔵🔴⌚️
High Quality and value watch. Love the renewable solar power. Medium size crown fits small to medium wrist widths well. The band is a bit stiff and one or two holes too long for small wrist wears. Which makes the tip of the band get caught on shirt cuff. Otherwise it’s a smart choice for that classic faux Rolex Pepsi look. 🔵🔴⌚️

Classic Dive Watch with Eco-Drive Technology.
I just received this watch from Amazon, delivered promptly the day after I ordered it. It's beautiful and the box it came in contained the oxygen tank packaging, which is kinda cool. This Eco-Drive watch was already running, so I set the current time and date. I placed it under a lamp in the living room for a few minutes before trying it on to make sure it had plenty of charge. The black polyurethane band is nice but kinda stiff initially. I'm sure it's supposed to soften up and last a few years. However, I went ahead and ordered a stainless steel bracelet for the watch, which will replace the polyurethane band whenever it arrives. For long term durability I think it's the way to go. But I'll keep the original band in case I want to change it back. I'm hoping the watch lasts a long, long time. It has two features which I like, which makes it a combination of the Casio Duro and the Citizen Garrison BM8180, two of my favorite watches: it's a legitimate 200 meter dive watch, and it has the Eco-Drive technology, which means no more battery changes.

Hard to improve on this one at ant price!
I recently purchased a Citizen Men's Eco-Drive Promaster Diver Watch with Date, BN0150-28E. This is the 3RD EcoDrive watch I have owned, the others being the first generation Diver, very similar to this one and a military styled field watch. With that said, both those models are daily wear including military and public safety use and are still going strong. Now...on to this beauty....I ordered one two weeks ago, got it two days later and sent the first one back. Why? No instruction booklet or warranty number on the watch tag. I ordered a second one, it two arrived in two days and again, same thing. I actually called Citizen and spoke to a person in Licensed Sales about this, suspecting maybe Amazon was not an authorized sales outlet. They explained they in an effort to reduce packaging (which is funny as this thing comes in a gargantuan box with a replica scuba tank inside) those aspects of the transaction are now online. My old watches had an instruction booklet and warranty number with the watch. I also learned that registering the watch ONLINE gives you one additional year of warranty so bumping it to 6 years. Now- on to the watch. It is a work of simplistic diving watch wrist art. Very old school, simple and elegant at the same time. You could envision James Bond wearing something like this very functional timepiece. I have big wrists and hands and watches are sometimes awkwardly sized for my wear. Not so with this watch, it is just right, not too big, not to small on my 9" wrist. The lume on this watch is fantastic with the "0" on the outer adjustable bezel being a slightly different color to distinguish it. Each number pip has a discrete bright silver trim ring to further enhance low light veiwability. The minute hand is trimmed in a florescent orange to immediately bring the eye to it and for some nice style points that pays homage to its diving roots. The watch itself is no lightweight but at the same time it is not especially chunky either. The offset stem is super comfortable on the wrist ( I wear mine on the right hand ) The solar panel is a smooth, even surfaced flat black, unlike the earlier Eco-drives which had a bit of "grid" pattern to them. If there was one feature I would say I disliked, it would would be the band. It is a heavyweight, and frankly uncomfortable rubber band. It has a decompression chart printed on one side, that appears to be slightly inaccurate compared to my real diving tables. I was a public safety diver for 6 years and don't see any diver actually using the table when computers are so much the standard these days. The factory band is long enough where it would likely fit over most wet suits without much problem. I'd not hesitate taking this watch on regular diving operations and have take the older version I have on many operations without issue. The first thing I did upon receipt was remove the factory rubber watchband and replace them with nylon 5 ring NATO style watchstrap. The orange strap shown in the pic, really makes this piece "pop" as does the khaki and olive versions I purchased. It utilizes a 20MM watchband. The other small annoyance is the teeny tiny calendar date window. Basically it is worthless, all I can say about that. One other suggestion is to purchase some glass crystal protectors for the watch face. My older model is scratched and chipped from real world use and the glass used on these are prone to damage. I got a pack of these off Amazon for under 10 bucks and they essentially function like a cell phone screen protector. Worth it. In summary, in a world where the wristwatch is falling by the wayside more and more, this rugged, adventure craving timepiece is both a statement and functional piece of EDC kit. It is a "must have" for anyone with an interest in true diving watches or those just desiring a stylish, simple and rugged adventure watch that you will find entering your watch rotation and crowding out lesser types.

Great watch for the money.
As I've said before, I am a watch guy. I usually like automatic divers and chronographs, but as anyone who buys them knows, they're sometimes expensive and a chore to own. If you've seen dr. Strange, and you saw all those wobbling things in his watch drawer, those are winders for automatic watches, and many think a must for unworn automatic watches. I'm on the fence yah or nay, but I use them. And hence the cost and chore. So, when my girlfriend started taking an interest in watches after being with me a while, I told her I'd get her a nice one. One she could wear often without worry and was quality, but I could also afford. She liked divers, and she loves the color blue, so, after shopping around, I stumbled on this one. Citizen is a fine quality, lower, to mid-tier watch. Watch snobs often give them a bad rap, they're not a Rolex etc. What a bunch of nonsense. Of course they aren't, they weren't meant to be. I checked it out a bit before giving it to her, and check on it with her. It keeps fine time, the water resistance is great, it's not overwhelming huge, which we both like in watches, but big enough to easily read, very legible, the hand styling and accent coloring is really pretty, and the blue face and strap look great. The bezel is really nice, and feel substantial when turning. The only reason I dinged it one star is, like many other affordable divers, the 12 o clock stop on the bezel is just a bit off, and that always bugs me, but it's a common, small problem, and hardly matters. I'd do half a star off if possible. The blue band is comfortable and she agrees and likes it. It's really cool that it has ND or no decompression needed depths ( correct me if I'm wrong on the meaning) printed in the band. I was going to put a nice blue NATO on there for her, but she said she liked the strap. It's also solar powered, which is nice. So far, she hasn't had any issue with it. Just leaving it near the window when not wearing it. It also comes in a cute little faux diving tank box. We both really liked that. I told her, keep it, it's a neat little piece. I'm a fan of creative watch boxes. I've seen tanks before, but still like them. Definitely a tough, practical, pretty watch that is good for scuba and snorkeling, or other outdoors activities or just daily wear. Affordable and cool. Citizen, seiko, orient, all keep making great, affordable watches. Definitely recommend.

Loooove this thing!
I can't say enough about this piece. I'm super into watches and own many vastly ranging in monetary value. I enjoy automatic watches and sometimes as a watch collector or even very low key watch snob, feel as though I should have gone that route instead of this quartz. However after a bit of research, this watch is right up there in capability with more expensive divers. If not more so. As much as I love to tinker with watches, I value accuracy a bit more. I haven't touched this watch's setting since I got it early July (it's Aug3) , and it's only -2 seconds off. I've read in forums where other's have had perfect accuracy after a month or two, but I can't vouch for that. Still, 2 seconds isn't too shabby. What's more, is the second hand hits EVERY SINGLE marker perfectly. I love that. Nothing worse than a quartz watch not hitting the indices. Another bummer about quartz, especially with dive watches, is having to replace the battery. That means you're opening up the back of your watch, essentially changing the water resistance rating from factory specs. Probably nothing that will affect what most people use the watch for, but still. It's great knowing this watch with the Eco Drive will probably out last me battery wise, and the case will never need to be opened. As long as you keep Eco Drives charged, they really should never need servicing (unlike automatics). The band was definitely a bit stiff when I got it which is no big surprise, but after a couple weeks of constant wear, it fits my wrist like a glove and feels plenty broken in. I also love how the case and bezel are both brushed steel as opposed to some divers that are polished and shiny. The case and bezel just have a real sleek cohesive look and feels a little less flashy, yet the trim around the minute markers gives it that subtle bit of flash when lights hit it a certain way. Very classy imo. Speaking of lights....the lume on this thing is absolutely insane. I love Citizen for their lume lol. I can seriously wake up at 4 in the morning and read the watch easily in complete darkness. Just walking in the house after being in the sun for a minute, you'll catch that beautiful blue lume in complete daylight. What else? Screw down crown. More water resistance than you'll ever need. Honestly the only thing that upsets me about this watch, is that after seeing numerous YouTube videos on it, learned it once sold for around $150usd about a year ago!! That's insane to me. People will even buy from you that little scuba tank the watch is packaged in, further offsetting the cost of this beast! So in conclusion, I love this watch. Do I still love the legendary Seikos...the 007, Sami, Sumo etc?.....sure. But for half the cost with better accuracy, I have zero regrets with this purchase. And to be honest, being in a few different FB watch groups....EVERYone has one of those Seikos and it gets plenty old seeing them daily. This is the watch for the dude that's into watches and knows how good the specs are, and only needs to impress himself. An underdog watch and easily worth the $200 price tag.

Nearly perpetual motion!
First off, there's nothing more beautiful about the inner workings of a mechanical watch. I don't think anyone will argue that, and an automatic self winding mechanism is even moreso. In fact, I bought my first Rolex way back in 1973, 47 years ago..the stainless and 14k gold datejust model. A beautiful watch. The fact that it kept lousy time was secondary to it's looks. But as I've gotten older and more anal about accuracy, the more I've leaned towards quartz models. There can be no comparison to mechanicals for accuracy. But, unfortunately, who knows when the battery was installed and how much life is left in it. And who wants to be in the middle of nowhere with a dead battery? And, as well, I became a fan of dive style watches. I tried, much to my disappointment, a Submariner, but accuracy continued to be an issue, even though it was a beautiful "superlative chronometer, officially certified." Also the watch had to be kept in motion or it would stop after a day or so of laying on my dresser. So I went ahead and bought a Seiko kinetic quartz dive watch, intrigued with it's hybrid mechanism, i.e. battery operated quartz for accuracy, but the battery charged by an oscillating pendulum. The only drawbacks were two: the watch is 48mm which is really too big for me, and also the watch must be kept in motion to keep it charged. So now I've purchased this Citizen dive watch. It keeps perfect time (well honestly it loses less than 1 minute a year) and the sweep second hand is spot on in aligning with the markers on the chapter ring. But equally important, the battery charges from light.. sunlight, overhead light, desk light, flashlight.. whatever light source you can find, and the case is 44mm, just perfect for my wrist size (7.25"). And the watch has a six year warranty to boot. I couldn't be happier with this timepiece. The only drawback is that Citizen has printed a dive decompression guide on the strap which I neither want nor need. The watch is water resistant to 200m which is probably 199m more than I need, but it's easy enough to buy a replacement strap which I did, and now the watch is just perfect. I really highly recommend this watch for anyone that cares about good looks and most importantly, great accurate time keeping.
