Also, be sure you have enough time to spend helping your young artist here and there as younger children most probably would not complete the excersizes on their own. Well, at least my 5 yo couldn’t, though she takes art classes. Most of the projects involve acrilic paint which personally I do not like that much. Still, it is possible to use gouache instead, it works just fine. It was purchased for my 10-year-old budding artist granddaughter, and I know that she will love it. I especially like the wide variety of ideas and the beautifully illustrated step-by-step instructions. My favorite part of the book is the Aspiring Artist section, in which an artist who typifies a particular technique is briefly described and a sample of her work is presented. This helps children connect creativity with actual artists and their careers.
