As others have said, it is not the heaviest comforter, but it is not as thin as other reviewers made it out to be. My husband and I tend to get hot anyway, so it really is the perfect weight for us. I believe it is well made, and I do have a sewing background. Now the fabric is polyester, but really looks like a cotton blend in person. I haven't had to wash it yet so cannot speak to how it will hold up, but looking at the seams I believe it will do just fine, especially on a hand wash setting and just hanging it to dry. We have the King size for our King mattress and the width is perfect, just the right amount of overhang on the side and at the bottom. I can see how it would be itchy, with the ruffles, but I’m using it as a bedspread rather than an actual blanket. My only issue is that the pillow shams are a little narrower than my king-size pillows, but I was able to get them in finally.
