The EMP noise source could be inside the cage/pouch and the analyzer with probe on the outside. Or, the analyzer and probe is inside the cage while the EMP noise is outside. Second scenario would be tricky to trigger and capture unless you use the waterfall. **Q: is there a linux-based version of the app?** A: Yes,it support **Q: can this be used to display and analyze noise on an AC power line?** A: You might be better off with an oscilloscope. Good for hobbyists, but I would not say it's good for much else. It's small and portable. I can't fully vouch for the accuracy of it, but the few items I've tested with known frequencies, it picks up fairly well. The only negative feedback I have for this product is that the touch UI is super finicky and the screen calibration seems to be off.
