Question 1

Has Seventh Generation been sold to a mega corp?  The products don't seem to be anywhere near as earth-friendly as they used to be.

The EWG "D" rating for environmental concerns was posted in 2016 and this question was posted in 2017 for the liquid in bottles.  The detergent packs were rated "A".   Ingredients in 2022 are listed under the product name on the Smartlabel website. The preservatives in the "Free & Clear" bottle continue to be petroleum-based and two plant-based ingredients (enzymes) may be allergens--so don't get this stuff on your hands, rinse your clothes well, and use as little detergent as possible.  Personally, I use this liquid laundry detergent almost exclusively and find it very effective; however, as with all HE machines that rinse with 2.5 gal of water, I need to add 2.5 gal to the rinse cycle and rinse multiple times to get most of the suds out--even using less than the one ounce dispensed by the eco-dispensing container.

Is this any safer than tide

Seventh generation is way safer than Tide. Tide has been on the Procter & Gamble boycott list since the 80s for causing cancer. Residue is left behind on your clothes which your skin absorbs and takes it right into your circulatory system. Every time I see someone picking up Tide in the grocery sure stores I let them know about it. Steer clear from Tide.

Why is the packaging plastic? I don't understand why Seventh Generation would do that.

The plastic is a type that terracycle recycles.  It is not a typical plastic.

Is it safe for 2months baby clothes

I used to use it on my baby’s clothes but switched to the liquid version due to the packaging not dissolving completely and leaving small hard bits on the clothes.
