Vent means it purges air through the eVent bottom. But then you stuff it full of gear, compress it down to nothing, realize that it fits nicely in your pack, and its waterproof; it's at this point that you come to find out that you actually got your money's worth.As far as compress-ability is concerned, I use this for my Hammock Gear top quilt and I can reduce the size of my bag by half when compared to the sack that it came with.Waterproofing seems excellent as well, I haven't field tested it yet (thankfully). But I did fill my sink full of water, and fully submerged my bag several times, then left it floating in the sink for almost 30 minutes. I wasn't planning on leaving it in the water that long, but I forgot it was in the sink after a few minutes.
