is this backpack machine washable?

Yes, my husband uses it for his lunch and to keep his work books and important papers safe, but he doesn't always secure his can drinks in the bag for trash and the shake leaks. I have washed and dried this backpack several times since I purchased it in 2020 and it is still in great condition. cold- wash, low heat- dry.

There's several in the nearly 5,000 reviews at 4.8 stars. They show the bag in a variety of levels of capacity with and without compression strips being used. The perfectly reasonable photos in the product advertisement show the 50L bag at max capacity. In the section labeled Features and Details the bag dimensions are accurately listed. Combine those with any form of length measuring device to verify the photos shown in the accurate advertisement, not to be confused with package dimensions. It is packed folded in half top to bottom and unpacked with personals thus reducing the thickness. So, if photoshopped, they are done accurately as depicted by dimensions given and review photos.

Will it fit under airline seat?

Yes, this backpack is great for travel. It has large capacity that can hold a lot of stuff.
