Stan's NoTubes Rim Tape for Rim Interior (25 MM)

I’ve been using Stan’s NoTubes Rim Tape for my mountain bike tubeless setups and have found it to be a dependable choice. Kind of surprised at the negative reviews and it made me second guess going with Stans tape. But I went ahead and purchased since it was the only rim tape I could get delivered next day. I have a set of Stans Arch MK3 tubeless ready wheels which had already been set up tubeless when I purchased them 2 years ago. After getting my tired punctured recently I put on a new tire but I kept losing air. Once I realized it was leaking through the spoke holes I pulled the tire off and found that the existing rim tape was ripped in places (I guess I was too aggressive with my tire levers when I initially repaired on trail. It was also folded in certain sections allowing air to escape through the spoke holes. So I stripped off the existing tape and spent a good deal of time cleaning the rim to ensure a good adhesion for the new tape. This entailed removing all the old sealant off the rim (after washing with Dawn I used Goo b Gone to get rid of the dried sealant) and then using rubbing alcohol around the entire rim. After I was satisfied that I had removed all the old sealant and any fibers from the rag I was using I was ready to tape. Applying the tape (I used 27mm tape for a 25mm inner width rim as recommended by Stans) was pretty easy and I had no problem whatsoever with adhesion. I also only used one layer with a slight overlap over the valve hole. I then pressed down on the tape going over the edge on both sides around the whole wheel as well as over the center just to ensure the tape was as sealed as I could make it. Put the valve in and secured with the nut. Put the tire back on using the sealant that was left over before I swapped the tape. Inflated to 35psi with a hand pump and had no issues getting the tire bead seated. Checked for leakage and couldn't find any. I'll ride later today but don't expect any issues. Only reasons I can think of why someone had issues would be the following: (1) Do you have "tubeless ready" rims and tires? If not, this tape will not work. (2) Are you using the right tape width for your rim width? Tape should be slightly wider, i.e. 2mm. (3) Is your rim TRULY clean? Like anything else adhesion will not be good if the tire (or your hands) are not clean and free of oils/grease/dirt/dust. (4) Has the tape been stored properly? As soon as I peeled off the first layer of tape from the roll I could tell it was "sticky" but I know that if I left the roll in my garage for several seasons it would probably not have the same adhesion characteristics. For those new to running tubeless there are lots of videos out there that walk you through these steps.

Stan’s has been my go-to for tubeless since I made the switch. This rim tape damn near perfect and, when used correctly, goes on with with no bubbles or hassles. Plus, it cleans up well in case you need to remove it. Ok, to the point of the people saying it goes on lumpy or crinkled or full of air bubbles, here’s the deal: You. Have. To. Clean. Your. Rims. Thoroughly. And I mean it. Every speck if dust, grease, body oil, old sealant, or adhesive needs to come off your rim. That’s true for any tubeless tape. This is a long process. Expect to spend at least an hour per rim getting it spotless. Plus, application technique matters a lot as well. I use acetone to make sure the rim surface is properly prepped, and still pull up a Park Tool instructional video to make sure I’m applying it correctly. Take your time, do it right, and this tape is an absolutely ideal choice for your rims. Ride safe!

I’ve done about 6 tubeless swaps using gorilla tape with little to no issues getting to seal and hold air. Decided to use dedicated tape to see if it worked better. Perhaps with another 6 swaps using this tape I could get the hang but the tape is unforgiving very hard to work out air bubbles, doesn’t conform and adhere like gorilla tape and the adhesive isn’t as tacky and I worry that sealant will creep into any area that isn’t perfectly adhered to the rim. Certainly lighter, much easier for the bead of the tire to roll over for replacing tires, but in the long run I’m leaning towards gorilla tape. Hope this helps.

i decided to go tubeless and this product helped me in the transition! the tubeless setup is based on the following products purchased from amazon: 1. taylor wheels- 26-inch wheelset (with mavic xm317 rims and deore xt hubs) 2. xtreme bike & sport- schwalbe nobby nic 26x2.25, ss, tl-easy (2015) 3. think fast- stans notubes 10ydx21mm rim tape 4. think fast- stans notubes 2-0z sealant injector 5. bike a mile- park tool valve core remover 6. trail this- American classic valve stem for t/less wheels products from local bike shop: 1. velox rim tape 10mm 2. stans notubes tire sealant- 16 oz tools required: 1. rim levers 2. air compressors I tried the co2 to inflate the tires, but I found that an air compressor works way better. tires are running at 35psi. I used the velox rim tape to secure the spoke's nipple access and the stans rim tape to make the rim air tight. the 10mm velox rim tape is perfect for the xm317 rims because it was narrow enough to allow exposed metal contact for the stans notubes 21mm rim tape. the velox rim tape also reduces the chance that the sharp edges do not cut the stans notubes rim tape. I used the injector to put in 2-oz of sealant via the valve stem. this process is less messy than trying to put the sealant via the bead/rim gap or mounting the bead. no leaks or loss of air after 40 miles of riding as of this post! AWESOME!!! ALL THE PRODUCTS PURCHASED THROUGH AMAZON WERE PERFECT AND RECEIVED IN EXCELLENT SHIPPING TIME! tubeless is the way to go. my wheels setup are now much lighter than with the thorn resistance inner tubes (some tubeless setups are heavy than with inner tubes, so it is a good idea to be selective in what type of tires you need for your riding style). as of benefits, I do feel the bike accelerates better and seems more responsive due to less rotational mass. this tubeless setup is mounted a on a 2000 klein attitude comp hardtail bicycle. trail on!

My rims have a very low center and offset spoke holes. It was a little tricky to get it to lay down nicely in the rim. I installed a tire and inflated it. After a day or so I took the tire off and the tape had formed perfectly to the rim! I am happy with this product.

I used on 20 mm Internal width DT swiss rims. I used the 21 mm tape. Removed stickers from the inside of rims and then wiped down with rubbing alcohol. installed in a very hot garage in northern California over 100°. Tape went on, smooth and easy, overlapping the valve hole by two spokes on each side. Be sure to tug on it pretty good when you're applying it I did about 3 to 4 inch sections at a time. Take care with the hole for the valve stem is to not tear the tape. Once the valve stems were in, I put the tires on and was able to inflate them with a high volume floor pump. I used maxxis refuse 700 x32 Tubeless ready tires. They held air with no sealant for about 10 minutes before I noticed a pressure drop. After sealant, I pumped up again and 24 hours later they are at the same 60 PSI they were inflated to with the sealant. Haven't had a chance to take a ride yet, but all seems good, I think this tape was about half the price of the DT swiss tape and seems to work just as well based on my other set of wheels that have DT swiss tape. I like it , uh lot!

The 21mm tape worked great for me setting up Velocity A23 rims with an internal diameter 18mm. It was my first time installing tubeless tape, but by maintaining tension and using a thumb to smooth down into the central groove while going along, it was not difficult to apply two layers without wrinkles or bubbles. Sitting on a low surface so where I could use my feet to help hold the wheel in place helped. The rest of the tubeless setup went well, with no signs of leakage from spoke holes in a couple of rides since. I can’t speak to how well the tape would stand up to repeated tire-levering or other abuse, and hope to have no reason to test that any time soon, but based on early experiences of installation and riding it seems to work well and to be a good value for the money. I have no complaints.

Sirve para preparar llantas para tubeles. Un rollo de largo me ha dado para una rueda de 26" otra de 29" y para la tercera que también era de 29" me ha faltado muy poquito y tuve que seguir juntando con otro rollo. Supongo que si hubiese dejado menos margen en las dos primeras me hubiera dado suficiente para las tres (en las primeras dos le he dado mucho margen pisando el principio con el fin). Hay que estirar bien la cinta al colocarla para llegar a deformarla sobre el perfil del aro. Lo he puesto en llantas de MTB de ancho normal (XC), la de 26" tenía ancho interno de 19mm y las de 29" algo más anchas (posiblemente 22mm). Usando liquido X-Sauce y valvulas No Tubes sella y talona bien si se dispone de bomba con mucho caudal (con la bomba pequeña imposible).

Perfecto, fiable 100%, no pierde nada de aire al tubelizarla. La entrega fue muy rápida y el mensajero perfecto.

Wir haben zuerst ein Tuch welches einen Riss hatte. Wir haben das Produkt ohne Probleme zurück verschickt und wir haben ein neues Tuch bestellt. Diesmal war alles super, das Tuch macht genau das was er machen sollte. Wir haben auch draussen ausprobiert, wie lange das Tuch kühl bleibt. Beim 37 Grad war es ungefähr 2 Stunden Kühl und feucht. Ein gutes Produkt für einen guten Preis.
