Edlund KT1100 Knife and Gear Replacement Kit for #1 Old Reliable Can Openers

If you have an old #1 Edlund Can opener that just doesn't seem to open cans like it used to, this is exactly what you need. This Gear Replacement Kit will revive your worn out opener and refresh it as if it was brand new! The parts included are the gear, a washer that goes on top of the gear, the knife, a knife support and the two screws which screw in the kinfe and knife support. The are quality OEM parts and assembled with ease following the included instructions. Installation took about 5 minutes from beginning to end and only required a flat head screwdriver for the blade and something to jam between the currently installed gear and the can opener to keep it from spinning while you unwind the handle to remove the parts. I used the same screwdriver with an old rag wrapped around it to give it a bit more bite. The rag was destroyed in the process, so be warned. All in all, it gave me quite the fight to remove, but it eventually unwound and replacing the parts was a breeze and the opener was now opening cans like the day I got it. I would recommend this kit as the perfect OEM replacement.

I had previously tried and an off brand name "equivalent" replacement gear and cutter knife. But it didn't work well at all. Actually didn't work at all. But this Edlund brand replacement set installed easily and worked properly the first time. It's been a couple months since then, and it's been in daily use in a restaurant since then and still works fine. The Edlund brand cost me $10 more than the off brand, but since the other set didn't work at all, I would say it's more than worth the price difference.

I got this kit to overhaul a #1 Edlund can opener at a soup kitchen. It wasn't being used because the can advance roller was worn near smooth. I ordered an Edlund gear & knife set (KT1100) for the #1 can opener. Item shipped out very fast. When I opened the package, the knife was missing. Contacted seller and they said one would be shipped out immediately. That's good customer service. Installed the gear, fits great. waiting on the knife.

The parts look good and are packed with instructions. Beware that there is only get 1 set of replacement parts, not 4 sets like the add states.
