Dannon is our brand of choice
Danner is always our brand of choice. They work consistently an dependably. We use various sizes in several locations to aerate our ponds. In summer they keep our ponds and their inhabitants, healthy.

Compact and high quality
Really nice pond pump. It is smaller than other similarly rated types I've used in the past. The quality is excellent. It started pumping with less output than I expected, but then after 2 weeks, the flow seems significantly higher... I think it actually needed some break-in time (because of extra tight seals?) Anyway, the pump is doing its job well and the quality seems great - and you can't beat the warranty. Definitely worth its higher price, in my opinion.

Great little pump that’s very durable.
I’ve been running this pump on my 200 gallon fish tank for more than 30 years. It runs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Every 5-10 years I replace it. Highly recommend the Danner line of pumps.

Workhorse pump with a few technical flaws
I purchased this pump to run my 70 gallon reef tank. after about a 4 foot head, the pump still has quite a bit of kick to it. I would definitely upsize the plumbing from the pump (the MPT is actually 1/2") to about 3/4 or an inch. using proper fittings. I will say that this pump is fairly noisy. It hums with a vigor that would rival a low toned conversation so bear this in mind if you're putting this in your bedroom. This pump does not have any rubber or silicone fittings on the bottom and will transfer motion from the pump to the base. If you have this in a sump, you can quiet it down with a silicone Trivet/pot holder from Walmart or some such, usually for around 4 dollars or so. The pump also gives a pretty stiff rattle the first time you plug it in as the magnet impeller "catches" to start the pumping process. this seems like normal behavior and doesn't seem to damage the pump at all. I wouldn't tempt fate and try it constantly, or have this pump on a timer though. Leave it on if you're using it. I'm using it in an underwater application, so I can't speak for whether or not the body leaks. Overall I'm impressed, the pump is definitely a workhorse and I can definitely feel the quality of the pump. This thing wasn't designed to be super quiet or pretty, but it gets the job done, inexpensively. I'd give it a 3.5 if I could, but a 4 will do just fine.

Works in a grey water irrigation system too
I bought this to power my grey water irrigation system. It came with a rigid pre-filter, which has been a nice extra. It sits in the bottom of a large 40 gallon Rubbermaid trash can and I attached 1/2 inch black drip irrigation tubing to it, cut a hole high up in the side of the trash can and ran the tubing through that (put an elbow on the tubing so it would not crimp) and then ran the tubing across my yard to the far side and have attached an old-fashioned plastic yellow circular ring sprinkler on it that I can move around the yard. I empty water from my washing machine into the trash can and when it gets full, I plug in the pump and run it to water my yard. At first, I tried it with the kind of sprinkler that throws out a jet of water and pivots around the yard, so I could leave it in one place and water everything. It was supposed to work with low-pressure systems. However, this pump did not produce enough water pressure to work that sprinkler head. I switched to the ring sprinkler and the pump works like a champ. It pumps the water in the tubing straight up 26 inches to exit the trash can, and then about 50ft across the lawn, and still has enough pressure to make the sprinkler ring throw the water about 6 feet in diameter and 3-4 feet in the air. I filter the water before I put it in the trash can, but even so, there is some fine lint that collects on the pump and on its pre-filter. However, the pump seems to handle this just fine. I have been using it 2-3 times a week for three months so far, and it is working just as well as when I started. I am very happy with this low-cost solution to my grey water irrigation.

Super reliable!
This pump does a great job in our 3 foot deep fountain with a waterfall 2 feet above the surface. It's home to 3 goldfish, 2 shubunkin, a water lily, and a number of other plants on the perimeter.

Strong Pump
Promt shipping & is exactly as advertised. My pond was filling up with algae even with a UV light. Figured out that I needed a bigger pump & this one is a beast. My waterfall is now able to operate as needed.

Poor quality
I bought a danner 950 pump about 14 months ago and it already stopped working. They don’t allow you to add an extra warranty so I’m stuck buying another pump already. It was only used about 8 hours a day, and not exposed to the outdoor elements. Very disappointed in their product
