Great Shutter release
On my third unit but mainly through faults of my own. First unit remote was lost in the sand in CA. Itโs replacement I was careless in loading batteries in camera unit and tension springs became bent causing unreliability. Battery life is exceptional. If you are somewhat cautious you will love this system. The only Con after many years of use is the outer jacket of cord connecting trigger head to camera tends to separate from repeated bending exposing the fine electrical wires. This has happened on two of my three units but has never caused a failure

It worked great for a week
I am a very busy real estate photographer. I shoot 2 to 4 homes a day, mostly five days a week and some on weekends. I need wiresless shutters to make my shoot time more efficient. Before that I had several VILTORX JY-120-C1. I say several because I would have them around a month and the transmitter and receiver would not communicate. The description from the manufacture to fix the communication problem was confusing and ineffective at least it was for me. I have three of them in a baggie. I guess with the home that they will miraculous healing while in the bag.I purchased the Vello FreeWave Plus Wireless Remote Shutter Release in mid-September.It worked great for a week. Started having problems with communication problems. Push the transmitter button several times to get it to release the shutter. UGH! Another wasted purchase. The Vello has toggle switches to enable the communication process. Match the numbers in the transmitter and receiver and it should communicate. I changed them and no joy. I was so disappointed and began a search for a different unit. Then I wondered if the batteries that came with it were any good? I changed the batteries and I have not had any problems since.I am so pleased with this product that I recommend it highly. I received no free product for my review of this product. Never seem to get that benefit.

Nice gadget for your camera bag.
I bought one of these, but it was stolen from my car, so I bought another one. However the first one was a slightly different:model RW-C1, that was a little cheaper. The new purchase worked great also. The main differences I note are that the transmitter does not have a small telescoping antenna, and both the transmitter and receiver use 2 AAA batteries (total 4).The receiver plugs into the camera and sits atop the camera hot shoe. When I am using the hot shoe, I just drape the cord over the lens and let the receiver dangle. The transmitter has a two step button similar to the camera shutter button....half way down to focus, and a full push for taking the shot. This receiver on this unit is slightly different. You hold down the on/off to turn it on, and then a LED blinks about every 2 seconds as a reminder that it is on. That should cut down on the incidence of storing the receiver while still on.With this shutter I can take much sharper photos, because a "man sized" lens on a moderate mount takes a few seconds to settle down after touching the camera. With this remote control, I can use "live view" to decide when to take the photo, then take it immediately.

the slide switch to move from single/multiple/Bulb is very easy to accidentally move as well
I purchased this item at the beginning of September 2017 to mainly use during light painting and night photography. It has already failed! I used it on a limited basis through December, stored it without batteries for the winter, and used it again during April and May. During a shoot last week, I would use this product to actuate my shutter in Bulb mode and venture out to create my light painting. Each time I came back to look at my LCD screen, there was no image or a few seconds of my light painting. I eventually discovered that the receiver was stopping on its own after a few seconds each time. After going through all of the troubleshooting ideas I could find in the small manual and online, nothing resolved the issue. The product does have a one year warranty, but the manufacturer does not cover the cost of shipping the product to them. Additionally, while the company representative on the phone said it's a ten business day turn around once they receive the unit, the form they email indicates it could be 4-6 weeks after receipt before getting the repaired unit or a replacement back. While working, the product was adequate and operated as it should. Be aware that the button on the transmitter to actuate the shutter is very sensitive, and if you keep it in a pocket while shooting in Bulb mode, the chances are very high it will get pressed and end your exposure prematurely (in Bulb, you press the button once to start it, then again to end the exposure). Also, the slide switch to move from single/multiple/Bulb is very easy to accidentally move as well, sometimes causing false starts and missed shots.A short life span with limited use, a pricey product plus additional costs for sending in a faulty unit, plus loss of use time during warranty service adds up to a poor, overpriced product I cannot recommend. If I have a quick, positive experience with warranty service, I will revisit this review. Until then, I would advise finding a different product.

Solid Build, Worked Flawlessly, Extremely Easy Setup
Before I purchased this remote shutter I already owned the Vello Battery Grip for my Canon 5D Mark III. I knew Vello was a great company and purchased the remote without hesitation. The remotes can exactly as described and worked instantly. It was simple enough of installing the batteries, flipping the dip switches as instructed, and fire away. Within 2 minutes I was using it. I went with the "plus" over the original due to the built in antenna more aesthetically pleasing look. I'm extremely happy I did. The build of the device felt extremely solid. I really enjoyed how the receiver is easily turned off/on by holding the button for multiple seconds. With the transmitter there's no power button! As Vello mention power is only used when taking an action. I've found on other products when there is a switch it often gets flipped on by accident and every time I go to use it, the batteries dead. Not in this case!
