This Mini-Claw Cultivator is PERFECT around most plants as the three cultivator prongs only extend down about 3", so you simply plunge it into the earth, give it a gentle twist to the Left & Right and it loosens the soil at that spot without damaging the delicate plant roots - you need only twist the tool an inch or so in each direction to be effective and not damage any roots. I too had one previously and lost it ( HINT: Attach it to a bracket on the wall as it's east to mis-place ).
