A Practical Workhorse at a Bargain Price
I picked this up as a quick fix to expand the USB capacity on my desk setup, and for £3.59 I wasn't expecting much. But to my surprise, it’s turned out to be a solid little performer — one that now permanently lives in my everyday toolkit. For lightweight tasks, basic peripherals, and daily file transfers, this is genuinely all you need. The hub is compact and featherlight — about the size of a stick of chewing gum — which makes it perfect for tossing in a laptop bag or carrying between workstations. I’ve used it across different setups: my MacBook Pro, a Windows laptop, and even a Raspberry Pi 5. It works instantly on all of them with zero driver fuss. Plug-and-play truly means just that. Where it really shines is with low-power accessories. I’ve simultaneously connected a mouse, USB-A keyboard, flash drive, and card reader, and it handled them with no hiccups. It also played nice with a portable SSD (though very large file transfers do take a bit longer compared to a USB 3.0 port). For everyday use — documents, input devices, firmware updates, and printer access — it’s absolutely dependable. It came in especially handy during a recent trip when I needed to offload photos from my camera, access files on a flash stick, and connect a wired mouse — all via a single laptop port. That’s where the simplicity of USB 2.0 is still valuable: wide compatibility and energy efficiency with older gear. The build is plastic, yes, and the cable is short, but that’s part of the design — minimal and unobtrusive. It won’t win any awards for looks, but functionally, it’s done more than many pricier hubs I’ve tried. Pros: – Incredibly affordable – Works with macOS, Windows, Linux, Raspberry Pi – Lightweight and ultra-portable – Handles all basic peripherals easily – No drivers needed – Doesn’t overheat or drop connections Cons: – USB 2.0 speeds mean it’s not ideal for large video or image file transfers – Doesn’t provide extra power, so no charging of high-draw devices – Ports are close together — chunky USB sticks may block adjacent ports – Not for high-end gaming peripherals or professional audio gear Tip: I paired this with a USB extension cable when I needed more flexibility and spacing for larger accessories. I’ve also tested it with a powered USB splitter for higher draw items — again, it worked without issue, just be mindful of the limitations of 2.0 bandwidth. In short, this isn’t the kind of hub that will blow you away with performance specs. But for its price and portability, it’s brilliant. If you’re looking for a simple solution for everyday USB connectivity on the go or at a static desk, this is easily worth the few quid. Just don’t expect it to replace a powered USB 3.0 dock — this is a classic example of "does what it says on the tin." And that’s sometimes exactly what you need.

Works OK for now
Does what I need it to for now but it does feel 'plasticy' and not the best quality. Works fine with my keyboard, mouse and webcam. Time will tell how long it works for....
