Great MTB chain! Great value!
This chain is working well on the trails so far. I got this to complete my 1x10 conversion on my MTB. I'm running a Deore drivetrain with HG and Dyna technology. Chain shifts as smooth as a Shimano HG chain! So far it's proven strong as I am 219lb and I'm climbing hills I once struggled with. I know KMC makes a good chain because I've run one on a gas powered beach cruiser that reached 30mph! Solid chains at an excellent price! UPDATE: The chain lasted only 3 months. It was stretched to .50 so I replaced it with a Shimano chain. I didn't want to chance waiting for it to stretch to .75 and having to replace my cassette and chainring so soon. Next chain I think I'll try is KMC X10L Silver.

Quiet and Smooth shifting. Excellent Value!
My gravel and mountain bikes came originally equipped with KMC chains. The shifting is precise and crisp but are on the noisy side. The 6-year-old and 4000+ miles Shimano CN-6600 Ultegra chain on my road bike is much quieter and smoother shifting than the KMC. I was hesitant at first but due to the higher cost and availability (or lack thereof) of Shimano CN-6600, I eventually opted for the KMC x10 to replace the old chain on the road bike. To my surprise, the KMC is actually much quieter and even smoother shifting than the Shimano. Maybe it was noisy on the gravel and mountain bikes because they have 1x drivetrains, whilst the road bike is equipped with a 2x Ultegra/Dura-Ace mix groupset? I honestly do not know other than the overall performance of the KMC is quite an improvement over the Shimano CN-6600 Ultegra chain. There are other good quality chain brands out there that other cyclists and riders would swear by – Shimano, Wippermann-Connex, Sram, Campgnolo, etc. In my opinion based on experience, value for money it’s pretty hard to beat KMC chains.

KMC is solid!
KMC chains rival Shimano in quality. Love the price point difference.

Best 10 speed chain for any road bike
My original chain collected about 2500 miles and was showing some stretch. I heard that a stretched chain can wear out the gears and drive train quickly so having expensive SRAM Force components, I was looking to get a new chain that wasn't super expensive and would be very quiet, knowing that at the rate I collect miles, I would be tossing this chain in the trash before the season is over. This chain has been perfect for the money. My old chain had hollowed links that really didn't make the bike any faster but did a great job of trapping more sand and grit, which this chain doesn't do nearly as much due to not having all those extra spaces for all that bad road grime to get caught in and cling to. The chain is scary quiet after a fresh cleaning and lubing. It shifts well and has shown little wear in the 1500 miles I currently have on it. There is some stretch at this mileage and also due to my spirited riding style and climbing, but I anticipate a good 1000 more miles and that is enough to get me through the Fall before I put the bike away for the winter. I will definitely be re-ordering this chain when it's time to put a fresh chain on in the Spring and start up my riding season again. I'm convinced that all those hollowed links and pins aren't a gimmick, but they aren't where us everyday riders need to be spending the extra bucks on our bike maintenance. This is by far the most popular chain and having a master link that you can take apart 3 times or so to break the chain down and give it a thorough cleaning while also tuning and cleaning up the bike is a major plus that shimano and SRAM chains can't offer. UPDATE: I now have over about 2000 miles on this chain and it is performing flawlessly. I checked it for stretch and I wouldn't say there is none, but it isn't much for this mileage and my abusive on the chain riding style. I have maintained this chain the same way I did the more expensive and perforated link KMC chain and there is much more stretch and movement between the links. Not sure what different materials they used to make this less fancy chain, but it is definitely winning in the durability, quiet, and value categories. Thought about trying a fancy gold colored hollow pin and perforated link KMC chain for my next chain, but after seeing how little this one has worn I am going to stay with this one for sure!!!

Authentic and in KMC Packaging
have not needed to install this chain yet, but assume the master link is there, and it was directly from KMC in the box, unlike some suppliers who ship in bags so you have no idea who manufactured the chain. if something is awry one i open up the box and install, i will update this review. but these are the chain most manufacturers are stocking base model bikes with. UPDATE: old SRAM 1030 chain was getting a little worn but not drastically so. this KMC installed easily, quickly, and performs flawlessly thus far. oddly, is it quite a bit heavier than the SRAM 1030 chain it replaced though it is also much quieter. the silver and black look is interesting but while i could have removed a link for this to fit better, i didn't i don't have more than a chain crimp tool and didn't want to attempt it since these links are beefy. i do expect it will hold up nicely and let's hope it does well in rain. SRAM only went about 1000 miles.
