Perfect for what I needed
Arrived promptly and undamaged. The rubber base provides a very sturdy grip and using the stone itself gives a lovely sharp edge with no funny business. Simple, straightforward and convenient. The seller also sent a very lovely email after delivery that added a personal and friendly touch. Fantastic, would definitely recommend.

Does the job
I'm a first timer but have sharpened two knives, a cook's and general purpose kitchen knife, and have achieved pretty good results (the knives are sharp). The block is competitively priced and, from my limited use & experience, would appear to be good quality. However, the included instruction leaflet isn't the best and the "link" to an instruction video doesn't work (YouTube is the place to go). Overall, though, I'm happy with the purchase.

Stone wears Defo buy
I brought a 1000/6000 from another company, it just wasn’t doing the job. It feels like a lot higher grit than what was stated and took forever to shape and sharpen a knife. The 400 on this removed metal in no time as the stone wears quite quick which makes great slurry for sharpening. If your a first time user I’d recommend using a permanent maker to line the blade, this stone can remove quite a bit of metal. However that’s exactly what I was looking for. I was able to do 6 knifes in the hour, along with moving up to the 1000/6000 but they were more so to polish this was what got the job done.

Not bad at all.
Seems to work quite well. Not bad for such a cheap product (in comparison to the professional japan single grit stones). Takes a while to get used to pulling and pushing the blade (helps to use an angle setter) - especially on my horribly blunt knives (not been sharpened in the years since I brought them). First time worked ok, second time a bit sharper, I'm going to guess that each subsequent grind is going to improve the edge.

Be prepared to spend 20 mins on each knife
I’ve always used a steel as do most butchers but thought this would sharpen scissors and curved knives. It’s just too time consuming so I only spent 5 minutes on each. Not convinced that this is really necessary for kitchen knives and will continue with my steel for speed and acceptable sharpness.

Absolutely fantastic whetstone
I was blown away when I opened the box and saw this whetstone. It is so nice. The quality is that of a much more expensive one. It was packed so nicely and came with easy to follow instructions plus access to a YouTube video. I am experienced in sharpening knives, but watched the video, and it's a good one lso don't hesitate to see it as it won't waste your time. The seller is so nice and personable, she really cares about her customer's and wants them to be happy with her merchandise!! She took the time to send me a personal email and I not only enjoyed that, I really appreciated it!! It's not often anymore that a merchant takes the time to contact me. I highly recommend this whetstone you cannot get it for a better price--believe me, I did my research. It's a very high quality stone and will last many years if taken care of properly. My knives are mega razor sharp now just like I want them to be.

Great for thick bladed knives
Works great for thicker bladed knives which don't work well with my handheld sharpener. Great value and the sharpening guide is extremely helpful for getting the correct angle.

It works!
I received the sharpening stone in perfect condition. The packaging was excellent and much more than I expected. I am a complete noob at sharpening knives on a stone, and it took me an hour to get a cheap, dull blade to where I wanted it. Not quite there but very close. Although, I strongly suspected that I already gotten it to where I wanted it during the first ten minutes... then kept messing it up. You have to keep your wrist steady as possible, to the point where you're using your whole body to move the blade rather than your arms. It's true that the rubber mount that comes with this can still slide around when wet, so it takes a bit of work to dry it just right, then it'll be steady. Like everything else, I'm sure it will get easier with practice, and I'm sure I made it more difficult than I had to. YouTube provides some great pointers, but they're all quite variable in the tips and steps they provide to you. However, at least I can say that the cheap, dull blade (that I could never get sharp even with a knife sharpening tool) was successfully made sharp enough to cut through paper. I have another cheap and dull blade I can't wait to practice with. In due time, I'll be able to sharpen any blade in five minutes with this stone. I've made quite a few mistakes. One mistake I made: I kept rinsing off the stone every few minutes, then I read that I wasn't supposed to do that. The "dirty water" that starts forming as you're sharpening is actually GOOD for sharpening your knife. Somehow, it helps with the process, and I have to say that I wonder if I messed up the condition of the stone cuz now there are scuffs that I can't quite rinse off anymore. Another mistake I've made is cleaning this with soap and water. You're not supposed to use any soap or harsh chemical with this product. USE WATER AND BRUSH ONLY!
