Very Nice and Easy to Apply Tanner with a Pleasant Scent
This was my first time using a self tanner and it worked very well for me. It had a pleasant smell to it during the application process (unlike the typical spray tan smell). This tanning lotion gave me a nice and natural tan with the first coat but, because I was using it for a dance competition, I applied a second coat to make it a bit darker. The color takes about 6-8 hours to fully develop so I put it on after my night-time shower and let it do its magic while I slept. It didn't stain any clothes or sheets. I received several compliments on how natural my tan looked. I found it relatively easy to apply to my skin with the mitt. I only used the smaller mitt on my face as I could easily use the bigger one for the rest of my body. The color of the lotion is white and it doesn't have a guide color so you need to make sure that you rub it in thoroughly and evenly. I recommend testing it out on a body part/area that you can easily cover to get practice in before applying to your entire body. Don't forget to shave your skin at least one or more hours prior to applying the tanner so that it doesn't collect in your pores/irritate your skin and remember to exfoliate your whole body just prior to applying the tanner. Hands and feet are tricky because the skin is dryer than the rest of the body so they can absorb more of the tanner and get darker than you want, especially around your knuckles. I put a thick layer of lotion on my fingers, elbows, knees, ankles, and toes to prevent overly dark/dirty looking skin and that worked well for me. I also used a make-up remover wipe on the palms of my hands, over my finger and toe nails, and over my knuckles after I applied the tanner so that those areas wouldn't get too dark. I used the tanner on my face and it did not cause me to break out at all (I have combination/oily skin). I was a bit worried that it would fade horribly on my face as the skin under my eyes can get really dry and the spray tans I have gotten in the past have faded poorly in this area. However, it faded seamlessly across my entire body and I was rather pleased. The tan lasted me about 7 days (after I applied the second coat of tanner) before I exfoliated it all off. My face did fade faster (only lasted about 4-5 days because I had to wear full face make-up every day for the competition so it got scrubbed more thoroughly than the rest of my body) but I was easily able to hide the color difference with make-up.

Best Self Tanner I've Used - No Orange Tint or Streaking
This USA-made self tanning lotion has completely changed my approach to achieving a healthy glow without sun exposure. The organic ingredient formula delivers the most natural-looking tan I've experienced from any sunless tanner, developing into a beautiful golden color that looks genuinely sun-kissed rather than artificial or orange-tinted. What impressed me most is how forgiving this formula is during application. The included tanning mitt makes even distribution effortless, and the lotion blends smoothly without creating streaks or patches. The development time is gradual and predictable, allowing me to build up color slowly to achieve exactly the shade I want without overdoing it. The organic ingredients make a noticeable difference in both skin comfort and results quality. Unlike chemical-heavy tanners that can be drying or irritating, this formula actually leaves my skin feeling moisturized and healthy. There's no harsh chemical smell - just a light, pleasant scent that doesn't linger or become overwhelming. The mitt included is high-quality and washable, creating smooth, professional-looking application every time. The barrier it provides prevents stained palms and ensures even coverage across all areas. The combination of quality tanner and proper application tool delivers salon-quality results at home. The color develops beautifully over 4-6 hours and lasts about a week with gradual, natural fading rather than patchy wear-off. The USA manufacturing and organic certification give me confidence in the ingredient quality and safety standards. Highly recommend for anyone seeking natural-looking self tanning results - this delivers premium quality with organic ingredients and foolproof application for beautiful, healthy-looking color.

Great color with no streaks
Great product! Doesn’t leave you orange or streaky. The initial smell is great but after a couple hours it definitely has the fake tan smell.

Works fantastic for darker skin tones
As a black woman, I tan to get an even skin glow in the summer and with the weather changing I tried this out and it really works well. Doesn't stain sheets or clothes, my skin is even and catches the sun well (aha bonjour!), it smells like cookies with a slight coconut smell. I did get a little on my palm when I was doing the back of my hands and you can see it in the picture. I wish I had gotten a darker shade but overall I like it and I look amazing.

I’m a Believer!
I’m in my 60’s, and am very consistent with facial sunscreen ( youngsters take note, wear your sunscreen or you will age your face prematurely or even possibly develop skin cancers! ) but even I can appreciate the healthy glow of a nice tan. I’m just not able to lie in the sun for hours to get it! I grew up where QT ( quick tan) was the only sort of self tanning lotion…….and yes, it did turn your skin orange. Plus it smelled bad……like smearing old suntan lotion all over you. There really is an “art” to self tanning, and because I was tired of looking pale from a long winter I investigated what is available out there. There are quite a few as it turns out. I got it narrowed down to 2, and decided on Beauty by Earth. The reviews were overwhelmingly positive, and I buy what others are encouraged to share. I bought the kit, it comes with a generous tube of the lotion, an exfoliant mit, and two different size applicator mits, one for your body and one for your face. I did go to YouTube to see the best way to apply a self tanner- you’d think it would be obvious but even good tanners require a few rules when it comes getting the best results. I exfoliated in the shower my arms, legs, chest and face. Then after drying off I applied a good body lotion to the areas I had exfoilated. Then I took my time and put the tanner on the mit and applied carefully, being aware of ankles and elbows and behind the knees where a self tanner can concentrate if you aren’t careful. It doesn’t take a lot of the cream, better to start with a small amount than to just saturate the mit. Using too much will result in an uneven look. I found that an amount the size of a quarter worked well for each area. I was careful around my ankles, and I used a fluffy make up brush with a light dab to do in between my fingers and toes. On my face I took the smaller mit and used an even smaller amount, and again used the brush to blend it in with my hairline. I bought the lighter shade, I was not after a deep bronze beach tan😉. The tube of cream should last me a long time; I’ll most likely do a light “touch up” every 10 days or so just to maintain the color I like, it will fade over time but it does NOT come off on your towel, or clothing, or sheets, although I allow about ten minutes before getting dressed. The smell of the cream is very nice, tropical smelling, and not a hint of that suntan lotion scent, although a few times a day I would get a light whiff of a similar smell, but definitely not anything that bothered me about using it. After a few hours you’ll start to see results. The very first time I did my self tan with Beauty by Earth I was sold- the color was exactly as I had hoped it would be, not too deep or dark but absolutely like a nice suntan. Again, I did not go overboard with my application to my skin……you can always go back and “ build” a darker layer if you desire. I was careful applying around the areas where a tanner can build up like my ankles, and I was careful to not smear it on haphazardly but rather aware of having a subtle end result and taking care to apply it mindfully. Hands down a great product…….delivers what it says as long as you apply it right. NO OBVIOUS ORANGE tint, and smells great with only a very faint occasional sunscreen whiff while it works its magic. Great results, I chose the color that was right for my fair/medium skin and the process of applying it was not hard at all, although I do recommend taking your time and to be aware of how you apply it. You’ll find you’ll be rewarded with a nice tone of tan that looks like you were out by the pool for a little while…..without the damage of getting sunburned!!

Initial color nice, severe rash not so nice
I’m extremely pale and just don’t tan at all in the sun, I burn & freckle, but sometimes I’d rather not look like a ghost every day of the year. I used this product in 2017 and loved it, so I decided to get some more last week. It went on very smoothly with the included mitt and smelled nice, did not stain my clothes or sheets, and I developed a nice color over the next eight hours that looked natural — not orange, fake, or streaky — on my paper-white skin. 36hrs after application, I woke up in the middle of the night completely speckled in horrifically itchy tiny raised red bumps, predominantly on my forearms and stomach. There was literally nothing else that could’ve caused it, and once I showered (right after I was done panicking), I got pretty immediate relief. I also used some hydrocortisone cream to make the extreme swelling go down. I don’t usually deal with much skin sensitivity to products despite dealing with mast cell activation syndrome, and this did not happen last time I used it, so it just really surprised me and made me hesitant to try any other kind of sunless tanner. Lucky for me, the lotion washed right off in under ten minutes. But so did the tan, which is not what people hope to see in a tanning cream, so I docked another star for that. Seeing all the great reviews, it’s probably unlikely you will have the same reaction I did. It’s not 100% the fault of the lotion; everyone’s bodies respond differently to different products. That being said, if you’re at all concerned about skin sensitivity, do a patch test and let it sit for 48hrs (allergic reactions to cosmetics can take 1-2 days to appear). I promise you do NOT want this rash — not only does it itch like crazy and worsen the more you scratch it, but the red dots from an allergic contact dermatitis rash take weeks to fade. *I would post a photo of it, but my arms bear old scars that may be triggering for some so I’ll skip it and let you Google “poison Ivy rash.”

Finally! Sunless tan lotion without the streaks! My Steps for the perfect sunless tan
I have tried many, many tanning lotions. I have also done the spray tans at the salon but that gets pricey fast. Decided to try this based on the reviews. Got the gloves with the lotion, GET THE MIT! I wasnt sure they would make much of a difference but the mit absolutely is a must and I will use every time!! I mixed with my normal body lotion in a small bowl (1:1 ratio) and it looks completely natural, even on my face where I also did a 1:1 with face cream. Directions, IN MY OPINION leave a little to be desired if you're new to self tanning. Here is how I achieve my results which is a 2 day process: 1. Day prior to application, bathe, exfoliate skin, and shave. 2. Next day, wash with NO exfoliation, use hands. Pat dry, do not rub, finish with air drying, I typically wait until skin neutralizes = few hours. 3. After skin is dry, Apply body lotion to places with looser or dryer skin, hands/wrists, elbows, knees, ankles and toes. 4. I mixed tanner with body lotion for my first attempt with this product so 1:1 ratio, and began with the calf, skip feet for the end. in circular motions, rub in the mixture. I was generous with the mixture so do not be shy with it, doing so will only leave places that streak from lack of product. Partner did my back with same technique. Skip hands, and knees and elbows and toes until the end. 5. 1:1 with tanner and face cream, with small glove, in circular motions, apply to face and neck, as close to hair line- i even went into hairline some. keep rubbing keep rubbing, including ears. 6. Lastly, I removed glove, applied some to hands, elbows, toes, and other parts that i skipped, then IMMEDIATELY washed hands. Took a makeup remover wipe and in circular motions, removed from elbow, knees, wrists, ankles, between toes, and forearms, its more natural to have forearms that are lighter than top sides of arm.. 7. Wait until dry, took about 30 mins before i could climb into bed. 8. MY ONLY COMPLAINT, which is with every tanner i have ever used, is the smell, classic fake tan smell. UPDATE: 3 DAYS LATER. I am due for another application. I am at the gym religiously and sweat which I believe may play a role in this. Recommended stay time is 4-7 days. Only 4 days if you sweat a lot. Wear is semi even, noticeable to me. UPDATE 2: Tried lotion without diluting it with body lotion. turned out very dark, a slight orange tint but not enough to bother me. Will continue to use 1:1 ratio and tanner lasts much longer doing it this way and zero orange.

FULL REVIEW WITH PROS AND CONS
FULL REVIEW WITH DETAILS! I waited to write this review until I used the product several times so I would be able to give a more accurate description. I have not been paid for this review. For reference I have naturally very fair skin but I do tend to tan very easily. I have sensitive skin. I have attached pics with no application to my hands so you can see the difference. Here is what I've found: PROS: 1. Love that it's organic with no harsh chemicals 2. NO ORANGE LOOKING SKIN! It gives you a natural looking tan. I have pink undertones in my skin and some self tanners can give me the orange look even if it claims not to. This doesn't do that. 3. If you follow the directions and shave/exfoliate really well, the product goes on smoothly without any streaks. I make sure to use a light lotion beforehand and I always use the mitt with even circular motions. Make sure to really exfoliate and mositurize your feet and hands because this is where it will collect and look "fake" if you're not careful. 4. The tan usually lasts me a full week before it fades, with showering every day. 5. The smaller mitt that comes with the kit is perfect for your hands, feet and face. 6. It's buildable. The lighter your skin is, the lighter tan will be produced by the product. You can build on the tan with back to back applications for a darker look. I have only done this once and I'm not sure the outcome if you do it more than twice (whether it will continue to look natural). NOW FOR THE CONS: 1. The smell is HORRIFIC. So much I'm giving it four stars. When first applying it's not too bad. But especially after it dries, no matter the amount of body spray I put on, it has the worst smell that lingers all day. Sometimes ever after a shower. I highly recommend applying at night before bed and sleeping on darker sheets. Then in the morning, rinse off with a good smelling body wash, careful not to scrub so the tan stays. Pat yourself dry. 2. Unfortunately I cannot use this product on my face. I have very sensitive acne prone skin and it breaks me out, so I had to purchase another product for me to use on my face. 3. When the tan starts to fade, it can get blotchy, especially around my chest and arms. But if you plan on using this regularly, it's an easy fix with exfoliation and another application. All in all I would definitely recommend this product. I will most likely keep using it unless I find another that works just as good with a better smell.

It Works!!!
So far, so good. I received my Beauty By Earth Self Tanning Bundle quickly using Amazon Prime. The bundle came with self-tanner lotion, body applicator mitt, face applicator mitt and the exfoliating mitt which are without a doubt definitely worth it to have when using a self-tanner. I have only once ever used a self-tanner and the whole orange look didn't work for me so until I came across Beauty By Earth self-tanner, I would never even think to use one again. But seeing as I live up in the frigid North and was sick of seeing my pasty white skin I decided to try out this stuff. With ingredients you can pronounce, that's always a bonus. I tried just my legs first before I went to bed figuring this way if I didn't like the results no one would notice and I could send it back. So I prepared my legs and feet (they save shaving right before application can leave orange dots so I refrained from shaving my legs that night) with the exfoliating mitt. Once I was out of the shower and dried off I applied a small amount of body lotion to my knees and feet, let that soak in then proceeded to apply a small amount of the self-tanner to the body applicator mitt and rubbed into my legs in a circular motion (as suggested). I did it a few times making sure my whole leg was covered. I went over my feet and knees last just using the lotion residue left on the applicator mitt. The lotion has a very light scent when applying. I hardly noticed it. It is a light/medium weight white lotion - goes on clear. Fast forward to the morning. Legs looked to be like I got a touch of colour but I couldn't really tell if they were orange or not. I didn't think so. Unfortunately I did not take a picture before I started for comparison. A few parts of my feet and my ankles were a bit darker but I blame that on my lack of application knowledge skills. Since my legs turned out okay, I applied the lotion to my stomach and back the next morning. This time, I did notice a bit of a 'self tanning' smell which I am not too fond of but it isnt too bad. And if I can get a 'tan' then its worth it. That evening my stomach colour matched my legs, with just a touch of colour. The day after that, I prepared my legs (no shaving, exfoliate, cream on feet/knees etc.) and applied another coat on both my legs and stomach. I did my feet and knees but only using the remaining residue that was on the mitt and made sure to rub it in well. I also used a makeup wipe and 'rubbed' down my ankle and a bit over my feet and knees so they didn't get dark. I also bit the bullet and did the rest of my body including my face. The 2nd application on my stomach and legs did seem to give me more of darker sun-kissed, golden colour. So far no blotchy or streaky application. I ensured my lotion was applied everywhere and I used both sides of the application mitt (one side for the lotion and then went over every spot with the other side of it just to be sure). Fast forward a few days. A third coat was applied to my legs and stomach and a 2nd coat to arms, chest and face. I am impressed with the results. Seems that for my skin, the colour builds on itself (for me its 3 or 4 applications - any more than 4 spread out over 2 days may be too 'fake' looking) and I have a nice sun-touched glow. Nothing dark, nothing orange. I don't look like I have been down South for a tropical sun vacation but I am no longer pasty winter white. I think this Beauty by Earth lotion will be fantastic to use before a vacation. Will give you just enough colour to not to look like Casper the ghost until I can get real a real suntan. Plus, much safer for your skin so there is a huge plus. I will recommend it and probably look at other Beauty by Earth products as well.

I cannot recommend this highly enough
Let me start by saying that this self tanner cream is a game-changer! What truly sets this self tanner apart is the natural-looking tan I got with it. With this cream, the result was a beautifully sun-kissed glow that looks like I’ve spent a week on a tropical beach (no orange tones!). And the best part? When I want a deeper tan, I can easily reapply it. I truly appreciate the fact that I can see the list of ingredients and actually pronounce and understand what's in it. All natural ingredients, that leave my skin not just tanned but also super soft and hydrated. If you're in search of a self tanner that will leave you looking like a bronzed goddess without any of the typical drawbacks, this is the product for you. It has an amazing shea butter fragrance, heavenly texture, gives a natural-looking tan, and has an affordable price, it ticks all the boxes for the perfect self tanner! I’ve been using it for some months now and I’m never going back to my pale skin 😂 I shared it with some friends, and they also loved it!

Great smell, nice color, but the gloves are not impermeable
Overall a great product. Here are the good sides of it: -Great smell! The smell is strong and smells like coconut (I loved the smell...smells like a sunscreen smell) and doesn't have that bad smell the day after the color sticks to your skin. -The cream is transparent when you put it on your skin. I've had a few other tanning lotions which were leaving my skin looking like I had been in the mud....only after I took a shower the next day would I be able to look normal. Not this one...you can apply it on yourself and no one can see that you have applied a tanning lotion on..until the next day when you wake up and you are tanned. -I like the color it looks very natural! The less good sides are these: -I am very pale and bought the darker version. I think the color is very subtle on my skin...I don't look really tanned. However I find the color very natural looking so I will still purchase this in the futur. But if you are looking to look really tanned I don't suggest to buy this lotion....or perhaps I didn't put enough cream on myself who knows. -Next time I will not purchase the gloves that come with this. The gloves help put the cream more evenly on your skin and in that, these gloves do a great job! However, these gloves are not impermeable inside and so my fingers keep getting orange!

Great self tan!
I’ve been using this for about a month now and I love it! I’ve never used self tanner before, but I have had spray tans. In my opinion this stuff fades better than spray tans. Possibly because it’s not as dark in the first go, but you can build the colour, which is great. My first time using it, I found it easy to apply. I did it before bed like most people mentioned. I followed the instructions and I watched a few videos online. I prepped my skin with the exfoliating mitt first, then I had a bath with a little bit of baby oil to moisturize my skin. After I got out and towel dried I added some cream to my ankles, knees, elbows and hands. Then I applied the cream using the mitt and rubbed in circular motions. It’s tricky because it goes on kind of clear, so you can’t tell exactly where you’re spreading it. I didn’t put any thick lotion directly on my feet, ankles, knees or hand, but instead I used what was left on the mitt to rub on those spots afterwards. This ensured I wouldn’t get any orange staining. I wore dark loose clothing and went to bed. I have white sheets and it didn’t even end up on my sheets! I was expecting a darker result, but I have olive toned skin, which might be why I didn’t turn out as dark as I thought I was going to. I ended up reapplying the following two days and the colour started to build. It wasn’t orange and ended up looking like a decent tan. I’ve been keeping my skin hydrated with lotion in between applications and applying every 1-2 days. I’ve worn a white t-shirt after applying the tanning lotion a few times and a little bit shows up in the seams of the shirt, but I’m able to wash it out. I also don’t apply it to my face. I did it the first time and I broke out bad! I have sensitive skin to begin with, so I should’ve known better. As for my back, I get my husband to apply it. :-)

The lotion is ok but will be trying something else next
It didn’t work for my skin. I am almost done the product and gave it a few tries but I will be trying the mousse next and hopefully it will be better for my skin with one application. The self tanning lotion didn’t really darken my skin with one application and I ordered the darkest one. Hoping I will have better luck with the self tanning mousse!
