Solid, sturdy, and smooth operation. Great vise.
I love this vise. I got the 5.5" one as an upgrade from my previous one which was often too small, or would slip on my workbench. My previous one was the kind that tightens itself on the the workbench but doesn't bolt in. The Yost 455 is the perfect size for my projects and allows me to bolt it down so it's easy to use. Let me share the bolts, washers, and locking nuts you will want to use for mounting this. There is some conflicting information in the Q&A and reviews. If you have a workbench where you can drill through the top, I can say definitively that the best way to mount it is use the base as a template and mark where the holes are in the base. Then use a 1/2" drill bit to drill holes through the tabletop. I used the following hardware which should work for anyone. You'll just need to adjust the bolt length for the width of your tabletop. Bolts: 1/2 in.-13 x 2-1/2 in. Hex Bolt (2.5" was the right length for my tabletop, you made need shorter or longer) Washers: 1/2 in flat washers with a 1 in outer diameter (OD) (1/2" inner diameter) Locking nuts: 1/2 in.-13 Nylon Lock Nut All the mounting hardware set me back about $11 at the local orange colored hardware store. It would have been nice if the hardware was included, but the vise itself is a great value regardless.

Rock-Solid Vise with Serious Clamp Strength and Precision!
This Yost 455 Combination Vise delivers outstanding functionality with industrial-level performance. The clamp strength is incredible — once you lock something in, it’s not going anywhere. The magnet strength on the replaceable jaw inserts is excellent too, keeping them securely in place during use. It operates smoothly, rotates easily with a strong swivel base, and the build quality is everything you’d expect from cast iron and steel. It’s definitely on the heavier side — which is a huge plus — because that weight keeps it firmly planted for even the toughest jobs. From metalwork to woodworking, this vise gives me total confidence every time I use it. If you're looking for a heavy-duty, long-lasting vise with no compromises, this is it.

Big blue, heavy duty and true...
Great vise, more than I need, but it's better than not having enough... heavy thing. Like the 4 bolt pattern to hold this heavy sonofa gun in place. Durable, use the anvil as well as the main jaws (with non marring magnetic covers) to hold my customers' gun parts in place for drilling and tapping; bolt assembly screw resets when adjusting or replacing firing pins; and anything else that I can't do with my regular gun vise. Versatile, and I can see it would definitely be functional for lots of applications. It's not small, so make room on the end of your bench gents.

Great bench vise for the money!
I've been looking for a half-decent bench vise for some time. There has always been one of those moments when you say to yourself "man, I wish I had a bench vise to hold onto this piece of wood...... piping.... you get the picture. I've researched various bench vise and wanted something that was both, practical and not too expensive. I dragged my wife out to Home Depot, Lowes, and Harbor Freight to look at options. What is boils down to is this: just how big of a bench vise do you really need and how much money are you willing to spend? I will be the first to profess, I am NOT a mechanic or an expert handyman but rather, just a homeowner who likes to work on things here at the house when I know that I can take on a honey-do task and use this bench vise as a third-hand or arm where necessary. Overall, it's perfect for my needs for light-duty work. It also has an anvil on it so that you can pound away at something so long as it's resting on the anvil. Installation was not too difficult. I tried to match up the holes to a template I downloaded online but found that they did not match. I ended up setting the bench vise where I wanted it to be permanently located and marked the holes in pencil. I then used a 9/16th drill bit and drilled the holes. Afterwards, I then cut two pieces, each about 6" out of a scrap 2X4 to use for a bracket underneath the bench. I drilled the holes accordingly. I then placed the bench vise on top, slid four 1/2" bolts through the base and under the bench, I lined up the two brackets I made into the holes and now, I have a decent set up. I'm very pleased with this bench vise. PROS: Solid, ease of use, rubber washer on each end of the handle, anvil CONS: None noted.

If only it was bigger around the base and back end of the jaw screw.
This is a heavy Vise for the size. The price was cheaper than most. It is well constructed, however, I'm not so sure the base or the jaw screw metal guard in back will hold up to serious impacts. Over all, operates smoothly and grips well. For the price, it can't be beat.

8 inch jawed Yost 480.....80lb Monster!
Ordered this after seeing a buddies. It's very nice and Heavy for a Modern Bench vise. 80lbs! Jaws tighten up straight as a arrow. Seems to have very little slop in the action. Jaws have nice serrations. Nice big beefy lead screw and big swivel lockdowns . No real casting or paint flaws to mention. It looks very nice! One of the pics shows this monster next the New Doyle 6 1/2 inch vise. Most folks have seen the Doyle 6.5 inch in person so that gives your a idea on how big this Yost 480 really is. The Doyle 6.5 weighs in at 69lbs. Glad I got it. Now to make a nice Vise stand for i!

Well made
I was a little concerned about this being an import and rated by Yost as Light Duty. Some surprises that I did not see listed are that the rotational lock is a heavy cast toothed bar that engages mating teeth in the base. This means that you must unscrew the lock several turns to get the teeth to disengage completely but it is worth it as even lightly tightened the vise cannot rotate. There is a heavy spring on the vise screw to keep the play out of the dynamic jaw. The center pivot bolt is 1/2" x 13 and there is a bushing around it to keep the play to a minimum between the vise and base. I installed a 14 ga flat bushing to take up a little more space so when the lock is loose the vise still rotates but will not wiggle. There is a little side to side slope in the jaws but they close square and flat, no shims needed. The vise screw nut inside is held in place by the pivot bolt so if you did manage to strip the screw or nut they are both easy to replace. The base is very heavy duty, in fact the base weights more than my whole 4" vise, probably pushing 15 lbs. I am not sure what about this vise makes Yost rate it light duty but I dont think I could break it with a 5 lb hammer. It is 30,000 psi cast iron and quit a bit of it. I have learned the hard way that if you need an anvil get an anvil and if you need a vise you can really whale on get a Blacksmiths post leg vise that is forged but for anything I could need a bench vise for I think this will work.

Best friend of the garage.
This is a great product. It works as advertised. Any person that works in the garage to repair. This is a must. The best feature of this device is that when it’s installed, I can turn the device in a circular motion. That gives me greater flexibility to repair. I highly recommend it.

Would love to include mounting bolts
Pros: Very well made Quality and precise Can rotate 360 degrees for many applications Prime free two day shipping for such a heavy item Cons: Would love to include mounting bolts. We found ourselves doing more and more projects around the house. When sawing anything with resistance, or affixing anything that required a steady hand. I had unwisely used a platform and my left foot. Well as you can guess things never really came out with any quality or precision. So it was time to buy a Vise. I shopped around and as I learned more about what features I wanted in a Vise I found this product on Amazon and listed as Amazon Prime. This thing is rightfully heavy, it supposed to be, as it's very solidly built. There were others around the internet that fit my feature set, but the shipping prices made it prohibitive, as these things weigh alot. So what was I looking for in a Vise? 360 degree rotation. Easy adjustments. The ability to mount to my work table and a size that would be applicable to most novice home user use. This product fulfilled all that. I have used it in a variety of applications, and the thing still looks new. It will probably the first and only table vice I will ever need. Using it after a few months now, I can't see this thing ever breaking, it's just quality all around. My only thing was that for my specific installation I had to go to the local store to get bolts, washers and nuts to affix it to my table. If these were included, I'd be on cloud nine. In a world were things are made disposable, there is nothing as satisfying as working with a product that does the job and will out last my life span.

Buena relación calidad precio. Producto de calidad!
Estuve analizado opciones por varios dias y este fue el que más me agrado por la relación calidad precio. Muy resistente. Se supone que es para trabajos ligeros pero yo lo veo de calidad industrial.

Awesome tool
This seems to be of great quality for the price. Others I searched for were either too expensive or looked to be of cheap quality. Shown is a picture of it bolted to my workbench. For it's size it can open fairly large and the pipe jaw area is very handy to have as well. Also love the rubber gromets permanently attached to the handle. Rotating function is very useful and locks securely into position.
