That said I have used the meter to show changes in ingress after I repaired a leaking roof. Wher the emulsion had flaked off to leave bare plaster I got a more immediate measure and indication of the drying process. Where the paint was still in place I got a lesser reading but it still indicated a downward trend over time. In short it will still indicate the emergence of a problem or the decline after repaired. Clearly it is sensible to follow scientific method and sample test in other parts of the same area and consider the difference. It is a good meter and worth purchasing and using! **Q: Can it detect moisture against tiled wall?** A: The tester relies on its two sensors to penetrate the wall by about 1/8th inch to work properly. Even if you were to penetrate the grouting the wall plaster may well be covered in tile cement etc **Q: We have a new concrete floor. I would like to lay laminate over foil backed underlay. Will this check the moisture level in the concrete?** A: Yes I am sure it will but only as a comparison to other walls or floors. I can't give a definitive number to look for.
