Unbelievable puzzle
This is the only puzzle I have ever seen that actually has a balsa wood backing. The pieces click when you assemble it. Only downside is the picture is digitized. However it was still fun to put together. Once finished you could actually pick the puzzle up and it would not fall apart. Puzzle was challenging.

Low resolution print?
Good solid puzzle. Especially love the included poster and letter system printed on the back of puzzle pieces. However this particular ship puzzle does not look very detailed. Picture is kinda blurry and low resolution. It looks ok from a few feet away.

It came with no instructions. 19.5x 21.5. We have sworn to never do a 1000 puzzle again <grin>
I've never attempted a 1000 piece puzzle before. Despite reviews (one of which seemed to expect a Rembrant), this has been very interesting. My wife is working on it with me, and I'm working my way up from the bottom, and all around. It is a challenge. It is large, about 19.5x29.5". Report: We just finished the puzzle (see photo) It is giant, and was really a challenge, even for two people. I consider it excellent, despite another person giving it a bad review. My wife especially liked the letters printed on the back. This doesn't let you "cheat" but shows you if you've tried to connect a piece to one that won't fit. In some cases a piece may seem to fit, when it doesn't. If in doubt, the letters will tell you for sure. Now where to hang it? I bought some heavy-duty Velcro.

Master and Commander of 1,000 piece Jig-Saws!
This was one of the most enjoyable, and challenging, puzzles I have tackled! It is both adult and time-consuming, and I was immersed in it from start to finish. Definitely my favorite puzzle project in years. There were no missing pieces, and I readily recommend it -- like reading a classic!

Low quality
The picture is blurry and low quality. Pieces are stiff and board like. Stuck together.

Mixed feelings
I’ll start out by saying that I am drawn for some reason to 18th century novels and wartime vessels dealing with the life of mariners of that time. That is why I purchased this item. A hard life it was indeed. As for this puzzle, the image is somewhat lacking in definition, though I would not say pixelated because that is a different and I believe lower level. It’s a bit abstract. That factor was neither here nor there for me. It is still a very vibrant and compelling piece of art, and the ship, the Excalibur, as I understand was a real life 104 gun first rate ship of the line in Her Majesty’s royal Navy. What I felt was lacking is ironically something that was intended to help. The back of each piece was letter coded and the entire puzzle was divided into sections. Unlike other puzzles which are not coded, this scenario allows you to “cheat”. Unfortunately, it is too hard to resist the urge to flip each piece over to see where it belongs. I succumbed to this, and what happens is you end up feeling less involved in building the puzzle, and more into just getting it done. Am I wrong for feeling like I missed out on the usual process? I don’t know. Maybe I need a shrink… All I know is finishing this puzzle by “cheating” left me feeling conflicted. It is a well constructed puzzle nonetheless. My advice would be try to do it without cheating. Good luck with that….

It certainly made us use our grey matter, but it was so beautiful when it was finished we put it in a frame.

The wood pieces are nice and solid but the print quality is abysmal. Can't make out most of the pieces and the jpeg artifacts make some areas impossible to understand what you're even looking at. I don't find a puzzle that's blurry to look at with jpeg artifacts everywhere to be a good puzzle. The original image is by artist Sarel Theron.
