Globalization: The Old World & New World Applications of Globalization
This textbook for many global business environment courses should have been titled as such: "The Way Globalization has Shaped the Old and New Worlds: A Needed Change from Globalization is Needed". The majority of the book focuses on the old world and new world applications of globalization. While the information provided is a plethora of knowledge, the applications from this book seem to be stemming from other books, and this book is merely a reference to other scholarly sources. I enjoyed reading bits and pieces of this book, but other than that, there was much verbiage that is broken down, and yet very dry in literary nature.... I will have obtained my MBA by this coming August, and sadly....This book left me wanting to know more, whereas the authors make you feel like your quench is never satisfied by their eighth edition book. EIGHT EDITIONS AND THEY COULD NOT QUENCH THE COGNIZANCE OF GLOBALIZATION FOR A MASTER'S STUDENT. This book is therefore lacking in respect to the manner in which globalization is defined throughout the book, as well as the drivers of globalization. Overall, I wish this book provided more, instead of repeated uses of terms such as "vis-a-vis". I mean come on now, not ever chapter should have the contingent inclusion of the phrase....Literally..... This book is just an overly written course textbook. You may be bored to death by this studious book, because I know I struggled to maintain my interest with this read. The words and terminology included in the book is the biggest highlight I would take away from the entire piece, other than that, one is better off reading on globalization online from scholarly sources, as the information provided in this book is simply an inclusion of all other scholarly pieces on globalization, simply taken by Cohn and Hira for their own entrepreneurial and monetary gains. I am saddened by these two professionals of academia. YOUR WORK NEEDS MUCH IMPROVEMENT. As of maybe, yesterday?!
